Hope they fix the synchronous search problem on Mac. Nothing worse than iMessage beach-balling because you accidentally do an iMessage search.

I don't get this, aren't texts already synced across all your devices already? What does this change?

Yes and no. It’s one message that gets copied/distributed to each device you own (for example: when you delete a thread on your iPhone your iPad will still show the messages).

Now once you delete a thread/message it *should* push that out to every device and keep everything in sync because they’re now “in the cloud”

Hey at least this means that we’ll get some variation to the top comments section on future iOS update articles :D

Embarrassingly late.

Sigh. No one is ever happy about anything.

Possibly now the masses can find something out to whine, stamp their feet and hold their breath until they have it their way. I'm going to assume it came late because it wasn't ready and instead of releasing it in a buggy state they held it back.

You can breathe now and move on with your lives.

Wrong forum for logic.

Blimey, I thought I was dreaming when I installed the beta and this popped up. Then I remembered I've not slept all night :D
Been really looking forward to this finally making a return, I've missed it since the old iOS 11 betas.

Yes, but if you are already using iCloud Backup on your iOS devices you can actually save a lot of space because your messages are only stored in iCloud once, rather than backed-up from each device separately.

Got it. And I agree. The syncing across devices will be really useful too, and this will make it a lot easier to restore, start from scratch, and recovery only the data I want restored! I'm glad the feature is here. :)

There must be more to it, seems like people are super excited about this, syncing can't possibly be all ... right? Are they including a feature to export your texts into plain text? Does this some how make all the cool iMessage features available cross-platform? Can I send money to my Android friends using apple pay?

I am missing something right?

Im baffled too. What value does this actually add other than allowing a 3rd party to access your "encrypted" messages stored on iCloud?
I assume that you could set an iPhone up as new, and still get your messages back via iCloud sync. I find, this is often the thing people are worried about the most, when asked to setup as new.

I see it on the iPhone but do not see it on MacOS and I just updated to the most recent beta. I assume this will be limited for now to just getting your messages from your phone/pad to the cloud.

If they had released it early with bugs, people would be complaining about the bugs and how Apple QC has gone to hell.

Apple cannot win this one, TRUST me. :)
