I am really hoping that the next version keeps a 10"ish screen but packs it into a frame the size of the original ipad pro. One of the things that kept me from going from the 9.7 to the 10.5 is the increase in both physical size and weight. If they return to the 9.7 physical dims I will update but for me bigger/heavier isn't better.
Highly highly unlikely.

I see a 11” same 10.3 chassis. 12.9 smaller chassis.

My dream iPad (you’d like this too) take the mini and lose the beZels. Someone did the math and you get close to a 9.7 inch screen in the current iPad mini chassis.

So, the home button is really disappearing. Guess so will the audio-port.

From my experience with the iPhone X for 14 days (primary phone), I was quite shocked how much slower it was than the TouchID within the iPhone 8. I couldn't believe it. personally I feel the uptake of the X will differ with the iPad using FaceID as the iPad isn't nearly used for ApplePay as much as the X.

Beautiful. Curious to see what materials they use for the casing. Stainless steel frame with an OLED screen like the iPhone X would look incredible on a device athe size of the iPad.

Stainless steel back and frame would increase rigidity, maybe even help with the speakers emitting sound (doubtful). The real question is would anyone welcome the increased weight that comes with using stainless steel?

The weight is a good point. Honestly I don’t think it’ll happen. Probably continue with aluminum.
