The Xbox 360 controller should work without any 3rd party drivers installed.

^^I will assume you are referring to the wired 360 controller in your comment there.

Because the wireless 360 controller definitely DOESN'T work with Mac version of Rage - drivers installed or not.

Ive a Imac early 2008 : dual core 3.6 , 4 gig ram ( upgraded from 2 ), geforce 8800gs

Resolution maxed out, i get texutures pop-in when I turn the mouse, not to bad but very noticable. Wherever i get all video options max out or not.

Are you guys having texture pop-in ? Is there a way to correct this that im not aware ?

2006 Mac Pro with 4870 graphics card. Works fine though it can get slightly choppy. I had all settings on high and then reduced to mid but the difference is not noticeable. It does crash the system once in a while...about 3 times so far in 2 days. I am not sure if this is heat (it does seem to generate alot of heat) or just generally glitchy.

The game itself is pretty good. Personally, if I want multi player, I will just play COD so I dont really mind just single player. Its very similar in feel and gameplay to Fallout 3. It has better FPS game play and better graphics but so far it doesnt seem to have the same charm and atmosphere. The general gameplay is similar. Open world where you explore and various people can request you to do missions. There is also a huge vehicle/racing aspect to the game.

While I agree that I could be using a much better graphics card (intending on getting a 5770 or just a new MacPro when they are eventually released), I was talking about the 2.4GHz minimum CPU clock speed. Maybe I misread that...

EDIT: double checked and the GT 120 is supported, but CPU speed is listed for 2.4GHz minimum. Since my Nehalem machine has turbo boost, is the requirement counting boosted speeds or not? The requirement is still slightly unclear as it seems to be specifying Core2Duo. Not that any of this really matters since I'm running 10.6.8, I'm just curious whether or not it would make the cut.

Also kingtj: since when does 3 years count as 'old' for a Mac Pro? They've barely changed since 2009.

Rage works just fine on my 2009 8-Core 2.26GHz with Radeon 5870 as has everything else I've tried to date. I have everything maxed out in the limited in game options and am running at my native 1680 x 1050. The 2009 Xeon chips are faster than earlier Intel chips running at higher clock rates and with 99% of games the graphics card is far more important than the CPU clock.

As the Mac becomes more popular, the arrival of A-List titles to the platform is beginning to become a more common occurrence. The latest top-shelf game to hit the Mac is Id Software's RAGE...

I hate to be a party-pooper, but if only this statement were true... Really the only titles I would consider to be A-list now available for the Mac are Valve and Blizzard's offerings. It seems the only reason RAGE came to the Mac this quickly is because it runs on OpenGL. And this situation overall really sucks! I mean, Call of Duty 4 is on the Mac, why hasn't Activision bothered with any subsequent ones?!

Even sadder is that I feel like game developers are increasingly just shunning the computer (i.e. including Windows) in general- I suppose they see consoles as the way of the future. I, however, maintain that gaming on the computer (Mac or Windows) is by far the superior experience.

Besides, I feel like buying this game on the App Store is a total and utter waste of time... Probably a better idea to wait until the Steam version is updated with OSX support!

The performance of the Mac version are awesome imho. This thanks to Lion new OpenGL, indeed the game req. 10.7.2. Well done Aspyr.

Lion only? Seriously, they can bite me. I'm not downgrading to Lion; first release I felt that way about and I am far from alone. Provide support for Snow Leopard and I will consider it, but not even for a second til they do.

I don't think they can provide support for SL since probably the game uses Open GL 3.x extensions only Lion provides.

It shows the Intel HD3000 because the 2010 Macbook Pro was a BTO with HD3000 and NVIDIA 330M

HD3000 belongs only Sandy Bridge CPUs, and 2010 MBP hadn't them.

Article says that integrated graphics is not supported simply because
most integrated graphic chips are shtty, while HD3000 is a lot better (in comparison)

Thanks! I'll be purchasing for two reasons: One, seen a demo and the good reviews - the game really interests me. Two, eager to support those who start to support the Mac with good gaming options.

Yup. Agreed. Good to see your positive post here, especially after scrolling through so many whining posts.

I bought RAGE, and it's running like a champ on my 2011 MBP. Fun game, with zero glitches and stunning visuals.

Did you end up trying it out ?? As i have the similar specs as yours…. hope it works. Really wanna get the game.

Sorry I have been too busy with school work... but will probably try it by sunday and report back on how it works.

I agree with you about Valve and Blizzard releasing the "A-list" games.

However i don't see consoles being the future of sole gaming systems. As games such WoW, Starcraft, Minecraft are attracting ever increasing number of subscribers and fans. And such games would not be plausible on gaming consoles. Unless XBOX and PS get their own keyboard and mouse, hmmmm…..

As you said the superior experience for me is the 'in-your-face-screen-while-gaming' on PCs/Mac

Sorry man I am just why to busy with work right now to be able to fully enjoy any game for that matter  , however if you try it out earlier send me a p.m pls how your experience goes. :)

I thought the same thing once. But I think I'm actually better now with it that I ever was with a mouse and a laundry list of macros. Eh, to each his own....

because no one in his right mind would play a shooter with a joypad

It works!!!!! BTW the game runs smoothly. No lag at all, had many apps running in background still didn't affect the game play in anyway. :D

Now you can get it at peace ;)

I have it running on a 2011 Mac mini w/AMD 6630M and I had to adjust the resolution to get smooth gameplay (2.7 GHz i7, 8GB RAM). Currently at 1024-by-768 I get fluid, non-laggy performance (but the game still looks good). At 1680-by-1050 resolution, the game was entirely unplayable.

What are the specs of your MBP? (13"?)

2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

Its an early 2011.

Even I'm playing on the 1024 by 768.

When i had contacted Aspyr about whether my specs (as mentioned above) would support or run the game. They replied in negative….. And honestly I feel even with the low res the game does run and it aint that bad. So that was the reason of my overjoy-ness in the previous posts :eek:

Do you get textures streaming ?

With my 13" MBP specs, thats asking too much….

no anti aliasing option for me

I am on OS X Maverick 10.9.2, and bought RAGE of the app store. When configuring the video settings for RAGE I can not change the option for anti aliasing, when try to the word none (what the anti aliasing default setting is) just flickers but gives me no 4x or 8x nothing, the option feels like it is broken..
