Vermont & West Virginia is surprising. The other states not so surprising considering they are less populated than the other states in the US. Slowly but surely I guess!

Isn't West Virginia one of the poorest states in the country?

Arkansas

It's ridiculous that Northwest Arkansas is yet to see an Apple Retail store. (Forget Little Rock.) With Wal-Mart HQ, Tyson Chicken HQ, tons of other businesses, a LOAD of schools and, 1/2 a million people, and the fact that it's the 6th fastest growing area IN THE NATION, I think it's a very poor move for Apple to continually give AR the cold shoulder.

Cheers,
wmt

Oh sure, AFTER I leave Boise.

Stupid macLife. makes me want to hate everything. Someone who worked there tried to sell me an iPod mini battery (This was a while ago) for $75 iFixit's price? $10

I agree I think a Apple Store in Little Rock or Maumelle and one in the Northern Part of Arkansas. :)

Newcastle, UK

Last Tuesday Apple opened their first store in Eldon Square in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. This is the first Apple Store opened in the North East of England. The local press reported massive crowds at the store on opening day.

There's now 26 Apple Stores in the UK. The first Apple store in the UK opened on London's Regent Street in 2004, so the number is growing rapidly.

Obvious UK omissions so far include The MetroCentre (Europe's largest mall), Edinburgh (capital of Scotland) and Heathrow (the mall with aircraft parking facilities).

Haven't seen one inside DC. Though there are a couple in nearby Maryland and Virginia area... :)

Yeah, they was talk of one going in at Georgetown Park, but with that mall's owner's weak financial condition (now in bankruptcy) it was put on hold. Kinda of surprising they don't have one in G'town w/ all the college kids around.

Hoping to see a few more in Oklahoma as well. Ridiculous that there are 80+ Walmart supercenters in this state but only two Apple stores. Should be the other way around.

Wal*Mart customers aren't exactly Apple's target demographic. Heh.

That's great news about Spokane! Boise and Spo-kompton have been in serious need of Apple Stores.

Thank you, Apple!

WOOOHOOOO!!!!

oh... and to the post above mine... how many BSU fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

just one cuz the rest are too busy talking about the fiesta bowl.

So, Boise Idaho gets an Apple Store. In Europe, following cities are nowhere near getting a store:

Stockholm
Helsinki
Oslo
Copenhagen
Berlin
Amsterdam
Brussels
Madrid

And so forth. I would say that each of those cities is a bigger market than Boise, Idaho is.

Whereas just about every nook and cranny in USA has an Apple Store, Europe need to beg to get even few stores...

Yeah but it's an American company. I'm sure that the inverse is true of European based companies like H&M or IKEA. I live in Indianapolis and the closest IKEA is over 2 hours away. We do have an Apple store though...

We have two Apple stores within fifteen minutes of each other but I honestly don't see what's so great about them. It's not like they do a great job helping you out and everything that has ever happened to any of my Apple products was never covered by Apple's warranty anyway. I might as well just dump what breaks in the recycle bin rather than pay Apple's exorbitant repair fees.

I was about to post this. Spokangeles is getting an Apple Store! Who wants to bet that tweakers will start knocking the place over within a week of opening day?

Mac Odyssey went under due to some problems with other business partners (not due to a lack of sales), but I'd rather not go into that. Strong Technologies opened up last year (and from what I heard, at the behest of Apple!), but will now have to compete against a corporate retail store, which is not an easy thing to do.

There's also Macxprts in Post Falls, but that place was set up in a shoebox (seriously, no more than 10x10 for the service area, if that) and...well, let's just say I haven't heard anything positive about that place or the lady who is managing it.

That's why you take it to a local authorized repair center instead of the Apple Store. They can give you better prices.

They will notice them eventually. I'm pretty sure they analyze demographic statistics and know what's up.

Woohoo! (to echo other Idaho residents)

Man, I've been waiting for this for a long time. Maybe it will breathe a little life into the mall, too. Stores are dropping like flies out there.

I'm almost surprised they're not opening one downtown, but this is a better location. I can't wait! I wonder how long it will take.

Thank god. Even though I work within walking distance of MacLife, I avoid it like the plague. I have been there once, asked a few questions about Final Cut Studio, got attitude like I was bothering them, and I left, never to return. I have purchased all my Apple products online since then. September is about the time I will be making some significant investments in post-production equipment so that would be prefect timing.
