Thank god. Even though I work within walking distance of MacLife, I avoid it like the plague. I have been there once, asked a few questions about Final Cut Studio, got attitude like I was bothering them, and I left, never to return. I have purchased all my Apple products online since then. September is about the time I will be making some significant investments in post-production equipment so that would be prefect timing.

Yep, MacLife sucks, I too avoid them like the plague. I went in there to pick up a Magic mouse a month or so ago, and they acted like I was some kind of loser for not already having one, and not knowing that they don't have any in stock. I buy online, and avoid them like the plague. I'm looking forward to having an Apple store.

I have to admit that, while I would much rather have an Apple Store to deal with that MacLife, I have actually had pretty good experiences with MacLife. I have noticed a bit of an Elitist attitude there, but nothing beyond the norm in the Mac community.

South Dakota needs a retail store, as the closest stores are the Twin Cities, Omaha or Des Moines (3+ hours any way you slice it). I work for a reseller down here and it would put us out of business, but I also have worked at a *Retail store in the past.

Come on Apple, give every state in the US at least one retail store!

MacLife Sad

Yes, I have an account at Maclife and have bought there several times. Very inconsistent service. A few times I have had good service and someone was actually nice and helpful. But the other 20 times I have received terrible service and attitude. They are so not Boisean like. No need for this type of attitude. It is really sad. And as much as I would like to continue to give my business to them, I will not with an Apple store local. Sorry guys. The apples do not fall far from the tree.:(

The sad thing for MacLife is that the quality of their service doesn't really matter. They're not any cheaper than an Apple Store, so if given the choice to go to one or the other, most people are just going to go to the real Apple store.

MacLife is in for a world of hurt, justified or not.

Forget Boise! Let's put one up in Coeur d'Alene (/Spokane) in North Idaho :p we have nothing up here! The closest Apple store is Portland followed by Seattle...

I second this! I'm in Spokane. Six hours to Seattle or Portland or Boise...

If they offered to sell guns in the Apple store they probably would have gotten one earlier in Spokane/Coeur D'Alene (tongue in cheek)

Agreed. Spokane would be a good location to cover the inland empire. Could even tap some of the Montana and Tri-City, Wa folks there.

Amen! We need one in Spokane!

We need you up here Apple! The closest Apple Store is 6 hours away in Seattle! Come to Spokane if you want, but I know probably 100+ people that ...

Hello Neighbors! (I live in Coeur d' alene and go to Boise all the time)... We used to have a 3rd party Mac store here in Coeur d' alene off Highway-95 (near Appleway), not sure what happened to them.. Spokane surely has a few, no?

Does the UPS truck come through Coeur d'Alene?

Coeur d' alene is actually around ~35+K and Kootenai County is 135,000. 20 Spokane, WA (<30 minutes away) is 400,000.

On a side note, Coeur d' alene has been growing like crazy in the last decade. A lot of people from California/Arizona/Nevada/Utah have been drawn by the beautiful lake, ski mountains, and (once) cheap housing prices and are turning it into a ritzy summer tourist locale.

Is anyone here planning to go to the opening? I might. The mall is a bit far from my house though.

I wanted to, but I didn't find out until today that it opens Saturday, and my entire day is booked solid. I'll probably swing by Monday, though.

That place closed down....but there is a apple reseller in Post Falls.

I drive through Boise about once a year. Would be nice to visit the Apple store. I live in Yakima WA which is about 4 hours from Spokane and 3 from Seattle. I really hope Apple decides to bring a retail store to Yakima in the near future. We have a third party retailer called Efcom which has terrible service to say the least...
