iPod touch Identify faulty iPod Touch by Serial Number

You're going to be able to check a bunch out until you get one you like if that's what you're thinking. You'll definitely have to hand over your old one, then they'll bring out the new one, and the second it hits your hands, it's yours. You can bring that one back if it's not good, but like someone said, you'll have to set it up with your computer before you get into the nitty gritty to see if anything is wrong with the new one.
If you have a laptop, and you really wanna be a noodge to the Geniuses, bring it. And sync right there, if it's no good, exchange it on the spot. They'll probably throw you out before too long but it's worth a shot.
But I dont think they will let you open the ipod boxes
OP said before leaving the store, not before purchase. I think they just wanna be able to take care of it before getting home.
C3 and light leaking from both sides.
In another thread someone mentioned, that he originally had no light leaks at all. But after some use light leaks gradually appear. He thinks that this could have sth. to do with the unit getting hot around the volume buttons.
Could s/o of those who had no light leaking please recheck? And eventually confirm this theory?
Maybe it's just fault by design?

Ok Im about to order my daughters Ipod touch from Apple with the engraving. If when I get mine and there is a problem, what ever it is with the above metioned defects, will I have a problem with returning it to them?

The only problem I've found so far is that the volume down button doesn't work much. In order for the volume to lower, you have to press just a very small part of the "bottom" of the button. Pushing in the center or upper part of the button does nothing.
Going to see a Genius tomorrow to see what they can do about it.

Make sure you let us know how the new unit works out, and if you have that clicking in the video.

Picked up three hours ago from Best Buy (purchased online/ship to store last week).
No light leak, no clicking, doesn't even have that newly discovered wierd touch screen pressure issue (from youtube videos that look like pressing on a lcd screen).

C3 and i only just noticed a very very tiny light leak in a couple of the corners of the screen but not noticable as i got a case lol dont think i got the clicking! i am really happy with it to be honest!

I had two defective C3 units from amazon:
C3#1 had light leaks around the volume button as well as on the right hand bottom corner. It also had heating problems.
C3#2 had major light leaks all across the right side, which kind of pissed me off. The sleep/wake button was also mushy.
So all in all, I'm pretty upset. I want one pretty badly, but on that same token, I'm starting to get pretty ticked that I can't seem to get a good one. I have multiple friends who have had them with no problems, but still. I think I'll give it one more shot, and if I can't get a good one then, I'm just going to wait a few months until apple gets their act together.

It has the light leak around volume buttons, when WiFi is on there is a constant clicking sound during a video playback (when the WiFi is off, there is no clicking sound) and there is a dent on the right hand side. Other than these issues, it seems to work fine.
By the way, can I go to an Apple store to exchange it or should I send it back to Amazon?

CC. Clicking. No other issues. Ordered a replacement from Apple. I'll let you know.
BTW, clicking on my iPod only occures when actually connected to a wifi. With wifi on but without connection, no clicking occurs. I suspect all iPods with the defect behaves the same way as the clicking is probably caused by data transmissions interfering with the microphone.
