C3LD
-no clicking
-only a small portion of light coming through the volume buttons (About the size of a pin hole, certainly not enough to take it back).
-i do notice it can get a bit hot up near the front facing camera, is this normal?

The heat is normal. Provided you are playing video, playing games, using Facetime, or some other cpu/video intensive process. If it's just hot all the time then it might indicate a problem.

CC 64GB model. No light leak. Clicking on video recording only when WiFi is enabled (connected to a secured hotspot)... turn on airplane mode and clicking is gone.

I'm fine with that.

Got a replacement, it's CC, and has more problems than the original one. My original one only had a small light leak and clocking, but this one has big light leak, as big as the time and date box in lock screen, and loose buttons.

Here's my list of iPods:

1. Yellow Tint at the Top of the Screen - C3
2. Light Leak and Dead Pixel - CC
3. Bad Light Leak - CC
4. Light Leak and Overheating - C3
5. Moderate Light Leak - CC
6. Light Leak and Dead Pixel - C3
7. Minimal Light Leak - CC

For those who say no problems exist, I can almost guarantee you have a light leak. From who I've shown my light leaks, only 2 out of 8 people I've shown actually seen them (I guess they didn't know exactly where and what angle to look for them).

C3LD... 64 gig. light leaks around volume and right side. doesn't bother me.

what does bother me a bit is a dead pixel near center of screen. noticed while watching a music video with lots of white. after identifying it the first time, i always see it now even though i don't want to be petty..

I've observed in the discussions that ppl who want a perfect ipod have exchanged it multiple times (even 5+). while im sure there are ppl who haven't exchanged even with the "problems" (or they may be completely oblivious to certain problems (minor light leaks, for example...)).

Knowing that the tolerance level for problems of ipod touch 4g is subjective, what is your intolerable number of dead pixel(s) to warrant an exchange?

Mine starts with 1B, so I feel completely out of place since everyone else's SN starts with a C. My iPod touch freezes all the time and was just purchased in April of this year. Lame

excuse me *ehem*, you have iPod Touch 3G, not iPod Touch 4G.

Maybe because it's not a 4G? Here people are talking exclusively about the new iPt.

1. I'm OCD about my electronics though, seems like you have most of the problems right there, so there's a good chance that you'll get one with less if you make an exchange.

All 32 GB ipod touches from Apple store Sydney

#1 CC major light leak near volume buttons
#2 CC major light leak near volume buttons, dead pixel, major gap between bezel and screen glue was visible
#3 C3 minor light leaks on both sides of the screen. minimal bezel gaps

After exchanging it two times, i found one with the smallest fault and i am very happy with it, the time gap between me buying the 1st and exchanging the 2nd was about 1 month, and the serial numbers changed, so i would say that a new batch of ipod touchs have been made with tighter QC and are of better quality ! :D

The CC and C3 serials were manufactured at the same time, just in different factories.

Pixels

So, I found two dead pixels. Black, but they look like they're behind the screen, like if an LED is out behind it. And one odd pixel that changes colours on black if you change angles. Mine is CC and I got it from Futureshop, which is like BestBuy. My first gen touch had this problem, I sent it in for repair/replacement, they sent me back one with just one pixel dead, I went to send it in again and they sent the same one right back.

I'm scared to return this, which is basically perfect, except the annoying pixels, and get something worse.

No Faults

Mine is a CC. Have no light leaks or clicking. Battery is very good. Timed continuous video loop and got over 8 hours. Even with wifi on I got 4 hours of video. No battery drain over night even if apps are left in multitask bar and wifi is on.

I've have a CC from Costco (first day available). I hear a clicking noise in videos and just recording sound. No light leaks. Battery seems to drain faster and I'm always making sure to shut down background apps.
