Go here:

http://www.apple.com/isight/download/

And you'll see that where it asks you to select your operating system for the download, it lists this as one of the two options:

iSight 1.0.3 for Mac OS X v10.3.7-v10.3.9

Does this point to an immenent 10.3.9 release? :D

I bet your right! Apple is getting everyone (Panther 10.3.7-10.3.9 users) up to speed for iSight/iChat in Tiger. It was an iSight firmware update anyway(1.0.3)

Ability to properly search in iPhoto 5 using multiple terms fixed - sweet.

Still can't select keyword and then refine search more with search terms - booo!

G3 266? man that thing came over on the Mayflower! Time for a new Mac! :)

Ay, the Mayflower was a fine ship, and the beige boxes she brought was a spoil of riches to us in the colonies.
Seriously, though, you're right - I've held out for too long and Tiger is a great excuse.

This is of note: the iSight Updater has been available to Tiger ADC users for a few months now (I submitted a rumor about it but it never made it online). I'm guessing it has to do with the introduction of Tiger, but I'm not sure. Could anyone tell me how many bytes the folder is with 1.0.3? I'd like to compare it with the Tiger beta.

I believe it was 930.

I must be the only one who thinks the slideshow/other organizational changes in iPhoto 5 make perfect sense :)

If it wasn't for GarageBand, iPhoto 5 would be my favorite iLife app. Either of the two is worth the price of the bundle. (And so are iMovie and iDVD, probably, but I don't really use those much.)

PS, iPhoto 5 supports my camera's AVI format movies! :)

I don't find iPhoto to be that bad either. But there are two things that just annoy me(besides a couple of other things that I think Apple could do better with iPhoto):

1. You cannot search for albums or folders. Once you have a lot a gets tedious if you only know the album name but not the picture name.

2. You cannot sort by size or resolution. These two sorting options I am missing now for almost a year since I got my mac. These would make my life so much easier.

Anyway, I hope iPhoto 6 will be THE update that makes everyone happy. So far iPhoto 5 was a nice but rather minor update imho, considering it took them a year to do it and that half the new functions don't work properly.

Share albums across users in the same computer / network

AndrewMT said:
iPhoto still needs the ability to share albums across users on the same computer.

That is a MUST!!!! and it would be nice to be able to share within user local network via rendovous (sorry: Bonjour!) like Itunes does...

In this way i would buy a Mac mini...justo for Audio and Photo Streaming....

I quite like iPhoto 05 - I use it more than iPhoto 04 and find the editing etc tools much faster to use than opening it in Elements to make a minor fix and sending it back again. It's never crashed on me either (touch wood).

Those two features would be good - I don't need to search for folders quite so much since we could have subfolders. I've started using keywords more which is helping me.

I'm assuming that the second option will come with Spotlight. It does mention being able to search on files which were taken with a specific camera so searching on resolution or size should be a piece of cake. ;)

Yay. Even doing the simple things like rotating aren't a chore anymore with this iPhoto update.

Plus, nice to have a few updates that don't require a restart

SLOWWWWW

Whatever the problem had been with iPhoto 5 on the G3, this was a desperately needed update. I immediately noticed significant speed improvements on my G3 iMac. Nothing earth-shattering, but it seems about as fast as iPhoto 4 had been. My wife had been pissed at me because for installing iPhoto 5 because it was so slow as to be practically unusable.

I can Imagine. I have 7000 photos and a Imac G5 with 1 Giga of ram and it nearly unusable...I really can´t imagine what is like in a G3....

Come on Apple...this is one of the Flagship products for the new computer at home experience...a great need of this times...even my grandma needs it...the software design is very very good....you should only speed it up....if you can make Spotlight that fast you should do Iphoto at least usuable with 7000 photos.

Do you mean a shared library you can all write to?
iPhoto already allows you to view other peoples libraries/albums on either your local machine or your local network as long as they have iPhoto running. It's just like iTunes does it. You can even take copies if you want.

Well good to see updates but iPhoto 5 still needs a lot of working with the speed.......maby it will be better with Tiger  ;)

Has anyone else noticed that when you launch a slideshow it doesn't put the image on the full screen. You get like a border now around the images. Which is a pain in the arse for me coz I've got a stunning 23" and now I'm losing an inch at the bottom and top of the screen and at least and inch and more on the sides when I launch the slideshow.

Anyone know of a way to disable this?

This is easily done with a 3rd party app called iPhoto Buddy. I use it, and it does nothing more than let you work with multiple iPhoto libraries.

The basic idea is this: you put your iPhoto Library in /Users/Shared, then use iPhoto Buddy to point iPhoto in each user account to the new location of the iPhoto Library that iPhoto will use with it starts up.

Option #1 - I have a hunch 10.3.9 is coming today via update (Friday 4-15-05). Either that or Option #2 - Apple is getting real lazy and doesnt want to revisit the iSight info webpage once they actually do release 10.3.9 update. Or....... or........ Option #3 - they just plain screwed up. I go with option #1 :)

First. Make sure your iSight is pluggged in. than go to the Apple menu > About this Mac. > More Info button > Select "FireWire" from the contents list. Locate the iSight Camera and it should tell you the revision that you have installed and active. It should be 1.0.3. If it is not, than it didnt work or maybe you are using OS 10.3.6. The iSight 1.0.3 update needs 10.3.7+ another thing, It is worthless to do the update if the iSight is not actally plugged in.

I guess I should start using keywords, I have just never gotten around to use them. I hope thats a possibility with Spotlight, it would really help finding and sorting things. I guess I'll start with the keywords.

The same problem?

Well hopefully this fixes the issue when I try to burn dvd's I have created between iMovie and iDVD. It sucks up all my rescources for about 40 mins to render a 6 min DVD with menus and everything and then when it goes to burn it always tells me it had an error during track initialization and that I have to delete all encoded assets and retry. Its only worked once and the movie stopped working after a min and a half POS. If anyone knows if i'm just doing something else wrong feel free to let me know

I had another problem (it's been a while ago, so I'm not sure it's the same problem) which I was able to workaround.

iMovie 5 no longer breaks clips into 2 GByte chunks. So, if you're picking an iDVD theme and then dragging and dropping the movie onto the menu, it won't render/burn correctly because the movie is too long.

If this is what's happening, try splitting the track first (you just need a cut, you don't need to make any other alterations to the movie).

Hope this works for you...
