Probably the 4". Can't get used to the bigger size of the 6. It's a great phone otherwise, but 4" was the right size for my uses.

This poll just shows you how MacRumors commenters are not a good representation of the buying public: about 50% people choose a 6+. I doubt that in the real world 50% of the buyers bought a 6+.

I'd go with the 4.7" model. In the months since the announcement of the 6/6 Plus and through tinkering with the new phones in stores, I've noticed just how small the 4" screen is for many applications. I'm ready for a bigger phone, be it the 6S or 7.

I'd still go with the 5.5in screen. I just can't see myself with a phone that's less than 5in in 2015. Phones do WAY too much to be limited by a small 4in display...at least to me. If Apple gets rid of the 5.5in iPhone, I'm getting a Note.

4" is the perfect size. Has the "big" sense of larger screens but you can type with your thumb holding it with one hand. It also fits perfectly into my cars cupholder so I can view it for GPS etc. It's the golden ratio, steve jobs knew what he was doing.

the new 4.7/5.5 sizes are just apple trying to compete with the android circus

If the 4in screen is the perfect size, then why do many others and myself prefer the bigger sizes? Serious question

It's really interesting how much the attitude has changed regarding the 6 Plus, myself included, since launch. I purchased the 6 and never thought I would like the larger phone but recently got the Plus and I really like it. I still think the regular 6 is a more practical size all around but I think I'll stick with the larger Plus from here on out.

I agree. We share the same thoughts on this.

The display size under Jobs leadership was 3.5".
The 4" display came with the iPhone 5, one year later after Steve passed..

IF a 4 inch iPhone 6s becomes a reality, what size would you go with?

The Plus because it's usefulness it incredible compared to the 5 or 6 sizes. I can still use it one handed most times. It only gets hard when I need to type. Other than that, reachability works wonderfully to help.

iPhones are in the pipe two years ahead of release. Jobs definitely had a hand in the 5's design decisions.

Steve Jobs had said that they are not fools and if the market proved them wrong, they would listen to it. Steve might have believed that a phone needs to be small and he was right, but our usage changed. We use our smartphones for so many things than just placing calls. For these things a bigger display is a great thing to have. Smartphones are mini computers and the Plus is perfect for this role. People who are looking for a phone, primarily to place calls maybe check their mail, or do light stuff, are better off with a smaller display.

Phones are better small. A device that can do what iPhone does today is better with a larger screen offering. I think we'd have larger phones now, even if Jobs were still alive. He was a salesman.

I doubt Apple will get rid of the 5.5" one until a year or two after android switches back to smaller phones, so you don't have anything to worry about.

I don't see a switch back. I see the possibility of small phones existing in tandem, though.

I currently have a 5s. I like the size of 4 inch phones. I spent the holidays with my parents. They upgraded one of their phones to 6 plus. My dad is the one who mostly uses that phone. My mom doesn't like the size and I find them to be a bit too big. I had some hope that 6s mini would come out, but after some recent press articles, I don't see it happening.

50% of buyers surely did not buy the 6 Plus, but then again this poll was never about 6 Plus but rather 6S Plus - and we do not know how many people bought it yet :)

I wouldn't go bigger than the 6 unless they put in a pressure sensitive stylus so I could use it as a sketch pad.

Absolutely, I would go with the 4" size if Apple managed to keep that model on par with the others in terms of performance and major features. A true 4" flagship-class model is something that set Apple apart from the competition with the 5 and 5s. But, as much as I prefer the smaller form factor, I think that ship has sailed. If Apple keeps a 4" model in the lineup, I think it will be a 5s-class model to replace the 5c.

Comparing my 5s with the 6, I find that the one-handed operation and pocketability are only slightly worse with the 6. The thin body and bezel reduction make the size quite usable IMO. However, my 5s is protected by a case, and I've only demoed the 6 naked. With the case, the width of my 5s width is identical to the 6.

However, given how many times the case has protected my 5s from drops, I doubt I would ever go without one. With the added width of a case, I would have to see how that affects the one-handed usability and pocket fit of a 4.7" iPhone.

The 6 Plus size is a non-starter for me. I already find it awkward to hold and use, and would imagine it being even worse with a case. Nice screen, but the portability compromises are too steep for me.
