In Star Trek: First Contact we learn that when the people of Earth realized they were not alone in the universe, everything changed. Earth became united for the common good of everyone. Of course, racism and war between humans was replaced by racism against alien species.

Other science fiction such as Superman: Red Son show the nations of Earth competing for access to aliens and their technology, forming alliances with the aliens to gain advantage over other nations. Religious and political groups try to recruit aliens to their side in order to fight everyone else. The aliens manipulate nations against each other to divide and conquer Earth.

- The world panics, and after the looting is done, the new form of payment will be toilet rolls.
- Flat-earthers would reccomend hiding on the underside of the Earth.
- Unfluencers would welcome their new overlords.
- all Preppers shout in unison "Finally", as Covid did not bring the zombie apocalypse they were hoping for, people just coughed and died.

Star Wars, the original film, was mostly a popcorn movie with great CGE and a loose Good-vs-Evil underlying theme, but there was one early scene which really left an effect on me; when a bartender barked at a couple star robots, "NO DROIDS allowed!" In a bar full of different, not just species, but creatures from other galaxies.
For some reason, this really stuck in my head. And still applies, here on this rock in the Sol system.

Well, Kenneth Johnson and V. 1983 was the miniseries, then you had V: The Final Battle (1984) and the V, the TV show. Then we got V:2009.

In all those miniseries and shows there was an element of humanity that was sucking up to the Visitors to get access to their technology and special treatment. It was a theme in several plot lines. Heck, Visitor Friends: https://v.fandom.com/wiki/Visitor_Friends

Man is always more important than humanity itself. /sarcasm

Don’t forget the Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man. In the same vein, there is Independence Day where the topic is hostile aliens who want to use the earth in some manner, eradicate the predominant species on the planet and possibly harvest it for it’s genetic, mineral rights, and other treasures.

Won't happen because even people in West are fighting each other! You can see it on the declining babies being born even cause the CCP to drop the one child rule should tell you humans are shrinking! I I had the know all in future that we would make device to capture our intelligence to travel great distances across space would transfer their mind to an artificial body for great Journey coming here!

As I recall: In V, the Visitor ships appeared over several nations on Earth. Other than the initial reactions of the people in different nations, the series didn’t show much about what happens outside the US. We don’t see if attitudes between nations changed at all.

At the end of Man of Steel, the army General questions Superman’s loyalty to the US. In the animated alternate reality movie “Superman: Red Son”, Superman was raised in Soviet Russia and indoctrinated accordingly.

In Stargate SG-1, there are Stargates in different areas on Earth. Various nations use the Stargates to take resources and tech from alien worlds to satisfy their own interests, often in conflict with other nations.

Well, V: the Final Battle and V: the series dealt with the international aspect a bit more than the main mini-series. But you're right in that not a lot was shown. Same thing with V:2009.

On the other hand, the Doctor (Doctor Who) is President of Earth - but the series really doesn't show how the rest of the world outside the UK deals with that. I mean, UNIT has to have people outside the UK right? :D

What about Martha and her trip around the world to unite the planet against the Master - yet most scenes are in the UK. :)

If aliens visited Earth, that means they will have far superior technology to us. When a technologically superior visitor encounters an inferior species, it always ends up with the inferior species forced into servitude. We will have give up our barbaric ways and adopt the morals and sensibilities of our alien overlords.

This happened in the Star Trek universe after the Vulcans made first contact with Cochrane. Y'all didn't think we gave up our petty squabble of our own accord did ya? Nah, the oh so superior Vulcans had us under their thumb for over a hundred years (ENT: Broken Bow). They forced their oh so superior morals upon the barbaric hairless apes of Sol III. If the Klingons had made first contact, Kirk, "Bones," Scotty, Sulu and Chekov would have been mining dilithium on Praxis.

Klaatu baradu nikto.??

In the Mirror Universe episode of Enterprise (“In a Mirror, Darkly”), Cochrane shot the Vulcans right after they landed, then ransacked their ship. Eventually humans conquered Vulcan and forced Vulcan women to wear skimpy outfits. But Earth did become united.. for the goal of interstellar conquest.

It would be a disaster

We are proving to be not even remotely ready for modern worldwide cooperative thinking and sharing in the service of mutually beneficial improvements.

Aliens would just laugh at humans and they’re primary interest would be the far more intelligent mammals that inhabit the water.

I would hope the aliens interact with the elephants also

We've given so many animals the "shaft" -- they are but one of many species -- but it always just breaks my heart when you see how intelligent and social and family/group/herd oriented they are...

...and we've driven them to near extinction so that some folks can grind up their tusks for woo BS "medicine"

It just defies logic and is truly horrific behavior towards another species.
(again - not even close to the only example here..)

We aren't even eating them!
This is to grind up one part of them for unproven nonsense that does nothing.

I laughed harder than I should have. However, I would also be inclined to believe your post as a true prediction given the current status of things.

In Star Trek First Contact, earth had gone through devastating world war 3. As such, humanity was probably ready to be enlightened.

But today, no such thing.

If aliens came to earth today, they would either take it over for the resources (just like how colonialism worked in our own history), or simply ignore us. If they were more advanced that they have reached warp-speed, they probably would've had some sort of "prime directive" to prevent their tech being misused by others, and thus they could simply ignore us.

I believe if aliens came close, they would ignore us. As you said, leave primitive species alone and let them evolve.

Let’s be honest if Aliens came, first thing they will pick up is the satellite TV broadcasts.
Would you bother to land given
The wars
The news
The way we treat aliens in programs
Reality TV

That last one would get me jumping to lightspeed quicker than you can say Kessel run!

Some scientists say aliens will never visit us because by the time they reach the techical levels needed to achieve interstellar travel, they will have off'ed themselves.

In all seriousness I think if there is ever contact it will be with alien machines rather than life forms. And if those machines are remote resource harvesters, we'd be **** out of luck.
