My iPhone is for portability (in my pocket) and taking pictures.

My iPad is for reading, watching videos while on the treadmill and tasks that need a larger screen. Simple as that. To each his own.

Steve Jobs had it right the first time.

Because my phone is almost as big as the mini. Redundant.

The mini is 97% bigger than the iphone. The Air is only 27% bigger than the mini but 100% less pocketable.

For the small amount you gain in screen, you lose it all in portability. As I've said elsewhere, if you have a desktop at home, the iPad makes sense for casual work on the couch. If you have a rMBP, it borders on being superfluous (provided you have to choose. Many may want to own them all, so be it). Numerous reviewers concur.

Interesting how many insecure people in this thread feel the need to associate the rMini with being designed for women. Not to mention it is also extremely sexist. You should all be ashamed.

Im not fat. To me both the mini and the Air are 100% less pocketable.

Since you seem to have figured it all out, I suggest you write Apple a letter and share with them your discovery that the ipad Air doesn't make any sense in light of the mini. Maybe, just maybe they will realize what a genius you are and stop selling the Air.

This. ^^^^

This echoes my feelings on the matter.

There is no one who currently sells an un compromised tablet other than Apple.

It's amazing how many insecure people who purchase one product feel they need to justify that purchase of a product by passing judgement on others who did not make the same decision as themselves.

I usually have a messenger bag with me, coincidentally the bag I used for my Powerbook 2400c and 12" Powerbook, works great for the Mini. When I had an iPad 2 I still brought it with me without needing a jacket.

Regardless, during the summer my Mini fits in the side pockets of my Cargo shorts.

I think you should relax a little bit. The mini does NOT fit into any normal pockets and ultimately is NOT that much more portable than an Air. Plus, the Air screen has like 50% MORE viewing area which is a huge amount. The Air is super light weight also.

The mini serves its purpose and Im glad some of ya'll love it. But, IMO, its too big to be truly portable and too small to be the end-all in a tablet.

My full sized ipad can beat up your Mini..... :p :)

I use a 5" phone, the mini is too small.

Love when people feel insecure and need to justify their purchases on an online forum.

Also putting an iPad mini or Air in a pocket...can't imagine sitting down or what type of clothing is required too.

Just defending my purchase vs the 100+ threads claiming the Air was better. Judging by the defensive stance people have taken in this thread, I've made my point. For the record I own both a full-size (3rd gen) and the Mini.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night...

I wish this forum would stop feeding the trolls.

OP likes the Mini (which is fine), but he doesn't care what tablet other people get. Why would he, that's insane. I like everything bagels, but I've never tried it slap a cinnamon raisin out of my neighbors hand and screamed "You're wrong, if you want a sweet breakfast that's what muffins are for, idiot!".

The only reason to do that is to troll.

Sent from my iPad Air.

I wish I could get a mini. But I already purchased an iPad air and the one new iPad per-person law is so strict.

lmao! That is how I feel. I should probably just keep my mini until the lte models arrive...but the one iPad per person law is so strict.

The day you feel you have to defend a purchase to anyone (especially online) is the day you may want to step back and realize how insignificant your purchase really is to anyone other than yourself. Don't defend your purchase to a bunch of faceless people.
