The day you feel you have to defend a purchase to anyone (especially online) is the day you may want to step back and realize how insignificant your purchase really is to anyone other than yourself. Don't defend your purchase to a bunch of faceless people.

Exactly. Who gives a crap what anyone else thinks. Does it fit your needs? Does it do what you want? Does it look/feel how you like? It only matters to you and nobody else. Lol

Just defending my purchase vs the 100+ threads claiming the Air was better. Judging by the defensive stance people have taken in this thread, I've made my point. For the record I own both a full-size (3rd gen) and the Mini.
Defending your purchase from who?

People aren't being defensive of their product choices, they're expressing the sadness they feel for people like you that are arguing superiority based purely on personal opinion.

Defending your purchase from who?

Defending it from myriad anonymous Internet forum denizens, of course!

Can't you see how that is so much more important than whether the product fits one's own personal needs/wants? :D

Most people who want a tablet to fit into their pockets also have vaginas

How many women do you know?! We rarely wear clothes with pockets...

It's all about what fits your needs most. Personally, I have a rMBP that I use for anything that requires a bigger screen, and although it's light I'm getting tired of lugging it around on my frequent long journeys.

Wow, people are that insecure about their purchase that they feel the need to start a thread bashing the other choices?

FWIW, I got an Air and feel that it fit what I was looking for better than a Mini but that doesn't mean I think it is "superior" it is just better for me.

The retina Mini fits beautifully into a pocket. The way a tablet should. Dont understand why people want a brick for a tablet. If you need something that is going to stay at home or in a bag anyway, there's a laptop for that.

Mini is too small for my tastes. I would like a 12" screened iPad and would carry it everywhere.

I have no desire to carry it in my pocket!:p

Apple gives us choice with the two different size tablets. Everyone needs to pick their own and let others pick theirs!

Having choice is GOOD!

more like 10 different choices

For years I carried my laptop around. Traveling, at home I lugged it out onto the patio in the mornings to use while I drank my morning coffee, tried laying in bed to surf, etc. I was thrilled when net books came out because the load was lessened.

But when the iPad came out it was like a new world. No, laptops do not fit my needs for everything I do at home nor when traveling. Not one bit anymore. And while the mini is nice I'm older now and frankly I simply do not want to zoom in on every web page just to read it. The IPad Air works perfectly for my needs.

OP, as some others have said. If you feel the need to justify your purchase to anonymous people on the Internet you have bigger problems in your personal life. Perhaps addressing those would serve you better.

Choice is great because different people have different needs/wants. Stop with the justifications to others. Just stop.

The mini is 97% bigger than the iphone. The Air is only 27% bigger than the mini but 100% less pocketable.

For the small amount you gain in screen, you lose it all in portability. As I've said elsewhere, if you have a desktop at home, the iPad makes sense for casual work on the couch. If you have a rMBP, it borders on being superfluous (provided you have to choose. Many may want to own them all, so be it). Numerous reviewers concur.

Interesting how many insecure people in this thread feel the need to associate the rMini with being designed for women. Not to mention it is also extremely sexist. You should all be ashamed.

Its a great device for kids too
