Same here. Paid $599 for the 2G and still using it almost 2 years later, but I will update shortly after the new iPhone comes out.

Sheeeeeoops. After getting the 3G for $300, there's no way I'm paying more for any subsequent iPhone. Wait. Maybe if the carrier gave me the data plan and 500 text messages for $10 a month. In words of one syllable: unlikely.

Why not, I am pretty sure I can sell my current 16gig 3g for $400-$450, so add another $150-$200 and I don't have to sign a new 2 year contract.

That's what I would do also. I really like the 3G, and there would have to be something that I really wanted to get the new iPhone.
