Well, I did have Vista running fine (ie not crashing excessively) and my XP PC is solid... so, would I give up Desktop OS X? Yes I would. Would it be easy? Course not. What will I do with the $$? Pay of a semester in college and rest go to finish building my PC.

Will it ever happen that I am given this choice? Never going to happen.

i'd take the $15K and i would then show him my bird, and then pray that apple creates a super version of iphone OS,

ah ha! you didn't say i could give up "iphone OS"

apple tablet here I COME!!!!!:p

and I thought this site was full of loyalists.

:p I chose mac os x, baring the chance of os xi I don't think I could go back to windows without craving the use of mac os x, even linux setup to look like a mac isn't the same.

I'm a broke college student, I could use $15,000 a lot more than Mac OS X. Linux would satiate my computer needs until OS XI.

As Steve Jobs said a while ago OS X is the Mac OS for the next two decades, and as OS X came out 1999/2000 it would mean OS XI arrives in eight to ten years.

15.000 USD for an average of nine years use of another OS would only be 4,56 USD per day.

I'd gladly pay 5€ (7.19 USD) per day to use Mac OS X instead of Windows or some of the Linux flavours out there.

i would take the money and laugh all the way to the bank , even my 1st gen xp .900 was not as much misery as this 2k$ pos has been...
its only been 5 weeks and i am ready to trash this pos ...
as much as i hate MS , i have learned to hate this mac even more...

Steve Jobs really has you by the gonads, doesn't he.

No, but Mac OS X may have.

I don't want to turn this into a "why Mac OS X is better (in my eyes)" thread, so I just say, I work (meaning getting paid) two jobs, one with a Mac OS X editing environment, the other with a Windows editing environment.
Mac OS X takes up less time to use efficiently, while Windows takes more time to even get to work properly.
So in the end I save time by using Mac OS X.

Not by using Steve Jobs.

PS: Btw., there are other people working at Apple Inc than just Steve Jobs.

I could cope with never using OS X again, though I wouldn't want to because I would rather use it than Windows or Linux.

If the same question was asked substituting Windows for OS X I would have to say no. If I couldn't use Windows I would not be able to do my job.

I'd take the £9,415.90. Build a gaming rig, dual boot with XP (performance, no lag with midi inputs on a non-dedicated sound card) and Win7 (DX11).

I'm not a mad person who's against Windows because it's cool. Infact out of the 2 systems I could live more without OSX since I need Windows apps to make moneys.
