So because of that you can totally predict his opinion on the iPhone X design?

This is stupid.

Nobody is saying, total prediction. But come on now ..... the notch is too damn obvious. Steve Jobs would have at least made sure to only display software that works around the notch. But having the notch cut off a piece of a software/game button at the presentation is ridiculous.

Nobody here know Steve Jobs personally therefore you guys have absolutely no idea what he would’ve thought about the iPhone X. His thoughts on design was always changing and he went back on things he declared when the market shifted. Stop praising him as a God. He gave a pass on numerous ‘bad’ design choices as well. The iMac G4 and iBook Clamshell were perfect examples of that.

I think you have others who use Steve Jobs as leverage to show their disapproval of the iPhone and they try to speak for him, when that man was so unpredictable in so many ways, no one could speak for him today. Apple is Apple, and this is what they have given us for a new iPhone. It's just a matter of somebody supporting it or choosing another option throughout the iPhone lineup
Or a competitor device.

So he would be okay with parts of onscreen apps buttons being cut off? Is that even a possibility? o_O

If Steve Jobs were alive we would be receiving real iPhone upgrades at $699 instead of a $999 ripoff phone and a $699 average phone. We wouldn't be paying more for iPhone or iPad upgrades

I don’t know how anybody could believe they know the answer to this “question”.

I don't know how anybody would expect Steve Jobs to say "Sure, go ahead and present the game which the notch noticeably covers a piece of the onscreen button".

They could have easily choose to present a game or app that works around the notch. Whether you like the notch or not, that was a very avoidable failure moment in the presentation.

TBH that keynote didn't really seem that enthusiastic to me like last years. Phil and the others seemed a little muted to me throughout the keynote. Add in that game error and FaceID failure and it wasn't really a memorable iPhone release imo. Or maybe the leaks just spoilt us for months on end so the real thing seemed rather anti climatic

They seemed more anxious vs the usual excitement. I truly hope there is nothing to read into that.

Some people (including myself) prefer the phone to go straight to the home screen once TouchID authenticates. This way I can pull it out of my pocket and have it already at the home screen once I've brought the phone up to use. If I want to see notifications I just pull down the shade.
Notifications (especially Missed Calls and Text messages) are Top Priority on a phone. The first thing any person should see when getting out their devices is what they missed when they were using it. Sorry that you don't want your phone to function like a phone.
We knew him from his keynotes, books, movies, and interviews. That is sort of like knowing Steve Jobs.
You did not know him personally. You weren't there when he left Apple the first time, nor when he neglected ownership of his own daughter, nor the decisions made before or after the keynotes, nor his daily routines at Apple. Nothing within his Keynotes, books, movies, and interviews should tell you what he thought about current designs. Even his colleagues couldn't figure him out at times.

What onscreen app buttons being cut off? Apps have not been optimized for X as of yet.

What onscreen app buttons being cut off?

Look at my previous post.

Apps have not been optimized for X as of yet.

I know, but you make sure the apps that are being presented are optimised.

They had no problem making sure they only shown video clips that fill up the display with it's new aspect ratio. Don't see why getting a developer to have an app ready for presentation would be difficult.

We'll never know for sure. Remember the
With Steve Jobs paying so much attention asthetics, no way would he have allowed the iPhone X to have that huge camera system covering the top part and ruining the looks of the iPhone X.

Most of Jobs his patents were about the looks and feels of his products, so yeah ....

I think I wil wait for the 2nd generation where they hopefully will make it look better.

I don't know, the bar is not there just for show. It has an actual function. The lines on the antenna band of the iPhone 4 come to mind, he very clearly stated in the keynote that the lines weren't very Apple but that they were a necessary part of the antenna system. He could very well have agreed with the notch.

6s+ has a camera bump.

What's your point?

It's a crap idea on the 6 (which also has it) and all following iphones as well.

Apple often make stupid decisions lately. This blind need to defend their screw-ups will only lead to further screw ups. If a company really makes bad decisions we need to let them know its not good enough.

As to "if steve was alive", i think it's relevant. The current leadership seem to hold Steve with such reverence and dedicate stuff to him, etc. but they're really screwing with his vision in my opinion.

The current designs would have never passed final QA (i.e., Steve himself) when he was still running the show. Steve just didn't tolerate crap.
