Larger display
HD display
SD card slot

That's a start

SD card slot :p Dont dream of that haha :p Apple charges $200 for 64 gb instead of 16 :p It usually cost $30 to get a normal chip with a big memory so its a big money maker for apple. The HD display, what do you mean by that? It is crystal clear retina display with 720-1080p ??

Not allow so many leaks

That hits the nail on the head, we are spoilt by the rumors! Pre-iPhone 4 announcements had the 'wow' because we did not know what Apple would do. If you think back, iPhone upgrades have always been pretty incremental, but Apple used to be able to keep their surprises under wraps. Now it just seems like they're confirming what we've known for ages. The larger screen itself would have otherwise been a pretty big deal, it's a first after 5 generations of the iPhone! (Putting aside the higher res that Retina brought)..

While I agree with your frustration, I think there are some technical reasons behind not offering external storage, not making money.

A couple of reasons off the top of my head:

1) Speed of external storage is much slower
2) File system - Apple would have to update their file system to mount external storage (I'm not an expert on this but think I read it somewhere long ago)

While we may see these things as minor, thing about how picky Steve was in his decisions. If external storage would sully the experience in any way, he would have left it out. I think that's really what's happening here. External storage goes against some of Apple's philosophies on how it should just work.

For the longest time I complained about no external storage. I came from always having phones with external storage. To be honest, I'm now happy I don't have to mess with external storage. But I do think they still overcharge for the difference in cost. It's certainly not $100.

BTW, what I needed for the iPhone 5 to "WOW" me was LTE....and I got it soooo....I'm happy.
I would wish for an updated UI....but that's not a deal-breaker by any means.

The iphone with the biggest WOW Factor looks like the iPod touch 4G but the back is also in full black aluminium, is extreme resistant and has an amazing battery life. This is what we all long for and you all know it. I will keep on rocking my iPhone 3G until the iPhone will look like this.

Incase you didnt know, ive read in these forums before about using external storage after jailbreaking so :)

There's unlikely ever to be the "wow" factor associated with another Apple product and here's why.

The rumour mill pretty much predicted exactly what this iPhone 5 would bring to the table, from LTE, to 4" 16:9 aspect ratio to smaller dock, to its 7.6mm form factor, to the 2 tone aluminium finish, to the A6 cpu. Hell, even iOS6 has been out as a beta for the last couple of months for developers to play with so pretty much no surprises there either. iPhone 5 has been the worlds worst kept secret!!! Not sure why everyone is acting so surprised.

As for the new dock and new nano sim surely when you knocking the size of your product down from 9.3mm to 7.6mm these things matter?? From 130g to 112g??? These things matter. To you and me it may be bollocks but the impact on the overall package is huge!! Throw LTE in the mix, a bigger capacity battery, a bigger screen, extra microphones for noise cancellation and voice recognition, 1gb of ram and suddenly they done a good job.

People moaning about the screen size  Not everyone wants to use a 4.8 inch display.

I love how everyone suddenly became eye doctors since apple quoted saying "The human eye cannot see the difference in pixels at that close range". lol You guys are funny.

Revamped OS (widgets, quick settings)
Larger 720p screen
departure from 4s design (something more radical and cutting edge. I've seen much nicer amateur renderings).
WTF is up with the 2-toned backing?
notification light
better battery life like the Razr Maxx HD

The most important thing is not what do we want that Apple did not introduce, but rather: What Apple should have introduced that we didn't even know we wanted.

Apple knocked us off of our feet when it introduced the iphone. When I first saw my friend's original iphone, it blew my mind, and when I got my 3GS over a year later, it blew my mind.

Ever since then, it's pretty much been the same generally (I'll stop you right now before you start listing the changes over the years, I don't care).

Not sure if iOS has it now, but on my Android, I can send any media file in my gallery to: Dropbox, whatsapp, text message, etc.etc. (basically, any app that I install, gets added to a list for quick sharing). Last time I used my GF's iphone 4 it didn't have this feature, and it made iOS look like a dinosaur. I use the feature every day on Android, and it will be hard going back.

Lol, not HD?

It's a Retina display. It'd be pointless to be any more HD than that.

Sure it can...it could be 720p or 1080p

I meant from a practical point of view, it wouldn't make any sense. Sure you can add more pixels and/or make the screen bigger, but if you already can't see the pixels then it's pointless.

Point is how much of a difference would that make on a screen so small. I remember hearing theres no point in buy a full HD TV thats smaller than a certain size because you cant tell the difference.
Its not that Apple cant do it, they probably didnt see the point in doing so.

Personally I'd have liked

  • A slightly larger, 4.3in display
  • Refreshed OS which is looking a little tired now
  • A different design, I really don't like the '2-tone' back casing

I wasn't arguing...I don't think its that big of a deal just playing a little devils advocate.

It's all about viewing distance, your HDTV can be as small as you want but if you aren't sitting close enough to it, it will all look the same.

they don't want you to have external storage. they don't want to make it easier to put things on your phone that you purchased elsewhere. it's plainly obvious that they want you to buy only from their eco system. how can you not miss this??

the all black design knocked my socks off :D am I the only one who is really excited about the all black phone?

What would I have wanted?

No nano-SIM standard.

It's nothing short of proprietary for now. With micro SIMs, you could cut your regular SIM. But the metal contacts are different now in nano-SIMs and you cannot cut your micro SIM into a nano-SIM.

Why? I cannot understand this. Maybe the amount of space it saves truly contributes to the thinner iPhone? I dunno. But it kind of defeats the purpose of buying unlocked, does it not? If I travel to China or Japan, they're not going to have nano-SIMs just lying around at the corner shop with prepaid options (for a while).

I was abroad just this summer and I could not find prepaid options for micro SIM cards...luckily those are able to be cut to fit iPhone 4 and 4S devices...but this new SIM standard?

I just see it taking a while to become an actual standard and widely adopted. I may be wrong and may be exaggerating, but that's what I would have wanted...

Anything bigger than 4 would require 2 hands to use...which is stupid and the something I was hoping they wouldn't do..4 is plenty.

it's a phone....the retina looks fantastic

that's what apple would like to have you believe. when during keynote one of them said that anyone can make a big phone, i thought to myself - but for some odd reason your company can't.

i think most people wanted a 720 screen, and that was a letdown. an updated ui would have been nice too. who seriously cares about an extra row of icons? that's just clutter. and letterboxed apps? lol, nice innovation.

and what about the new hideous looking nano and touch. they look like something from 2005.
