I will upgrade If the carriers offer a nice trade-in deal for my 6s+. Worked out good last year when I traded in my 6+ for bill credits that will eventually equal $650.

And for the record, I'm still using an iPhone 6 Plus and perfectly content to keep it for another year if the above is true.

I had the 6 plus and upgraded to the 6s plus.

The experience of the 6s(speed and 3D Touch) is a lot better.

6 plus to a 7 plus is probably not even comparable. You don't even know how much slower the 6 is compared to the 6s.

As of right now I will have to pass as I'm sick of this look/design. I guess I will have to see what Apple presents as the must have feature to know for sure.

I would agree. I think this hopefully will be the year we are going to see some changes finally altering the appearance. Rather the changes be accepted or not by many, I will accept any changes at this for the next iPhone metamorphosis.

The "S" version will always remain the same design as the non S. Apple has been consistent and would not changed this, bc if apple did, the future S'es would hv been changed also. My guess after the 8, the 9 would be used as the next 8 generation and not the 7S bc of the latest design n technology.

Not upgrading, even if there is an iPhone 8 this year. My 6s still functions well and does all I need it to do. If they made an SE2 then I would consider buying that.

Probably... depends on the camera, I've had 2 iPhone 7's and for me the camera performance was really really poor, the new sensor and algorithms Apple has used don't work very well when taking pictures of my dog, so I went back to the 6S. But I want those 7 features so will see what's launched.

Huh?

The 7 remained the same design as the 6s. How do you explain that?

And that is why 7S will still be the same as 7. That is what I meant
So, the 6s is the same as the 6, the 7 is the same as the 6s and the 7s will be the same as the 7?

But 'Apple has been consistent and would not changed this, bc if apple did, the future S'es would hv been changed also.'?

Sorry, not trying to act rude. I'm just asking questions because the way I see it, Apple broke their 'consistent' pattern with the 7.

If there is no redesign I will absolutely not upgrade this year at least not to a 7s. I have an iPhone 7 and it's a great phone aside from the random rebooting that it does...

All that said it IS Not a pleasing design at all. The top and bottom bezels is so outdated it's not even funny.

I'm really hoping for a redesign

In my comment, I emphasized that from non S to S version, the designs had not changed. For example: 4 to 4S, 5 to 5S, and 6 to 6S, and yes 6S to 7 did also not changed. Some may hope that the 7S will change design, I doubt it will happen bcs rummors has it that the 7S will be released with the 8, and only the 8 will get the new design. The 7S will continue the 7 design bcs the S version had not changed in all the other previous models. Do you think the 7S will hv the same design as the 8? My guess is no. Will the 7S hv a different design from the 7? I also doubt that bcs apple won't hv enough time to work on 2 new product design at the same time.

OK. I think I see where you're coming from.

You are saying that, despite Apple breaking the cycle with the 7, they will return to it with the 7s. Considering all the rumors floating around about what the phone(s) will be called and what they look like it's anyone's guess. But you're probably right.

I was only questioning because I assumed you weren't aware of or were purposely ignoring the fact that Apple did break this cycle with the 7.

My best guess would be a 7S and 7S plus with the same body as the 7 with an iPhone edition launched at the same time with all the new tech and styling. 8 and 8 plus would then follow in 2018 with the same look as the edition model.

It depends on what new features the phone brings. Of course, I'd like to see a redesign. If it keeps the same form but offers lots of good features, that's fine with me. After all, I tend to actually use my phone, rather than sit staring at how good it looks.

That's not why I prefer aesthetics over function. When you only upgrade your device once every 2.5 to 3.5 years it's a thing to be able to appreciate how the device looks.

I'm not staring at it like it's some work of art or something, but I also don't want to hate how it looks every time I go to use it. 2.5 to 3.5 years is a long time to hate how your device looks.

That doesn't concern some people and I get that. But there is a reason Jony Ive has a job and Apple has a design team and it's not solely about designing parts no one will ever see.

There's no doubt about it, a 4th year of looking pretty much the same isn't appealing at all. But at the same time, I'm not going to look for another phone just because of the design if it has the features I want.
