Which generation did you have? That third gen MX-5 is a tempting little bad-boy. :)

I had the MK1 that they based on the Lotus Elan. Great little car. Handled like it was on rails and was so reliable too.

(And it's an instant sign of poseur to dismiss the MX-5 as girly... it's always been well respected in racing and enthusiast circles).

Damn right! Who cares how the car is perceived as long as it drives great. I currently have a Ford Puma which is also considered a girl's car but it handles beautifully.

I've always liked the Miata. Problem is, I can't fit in one. I really wanted one and got the chance to sit in one at the auto show. Oops- I'm just too tall.

Man that car is so f***ing awesome to begin with, a convertible would really be too damn cool. SRT8 baby. :D

Yes, so after talking to a friend last night, he suggested getting a Camaro convertible when it comes out, then selling it if Dodge makes the Challenger convertible and getting that. I think that's a great idea. The Camaro won't be out til next year, which gives me time to save up a healthy down payment. :)

You're going to turn into a complete car guy in no time, Lee! :D

If you really bought a car, would you garage it somewhere, or are you going to park it streetside in your neighborhood, and deal with the snow and having to move it for street cleaning and all that?

We have a garage behind the house. There's no way I would let a car like that sit on the street. I would also probably ask my parents to store it for the winter in their garage in Ohio.

Oh, wow, cool, I didn't realize you had a garage. Perfect! Go get it! Now, you can not only pick up a car full of fun at the club, but you have a way to transport them home. :D

Figured since the thread has descended into chat about girly little roadsters I thought I'd treat you to my old Z3. Miss her on sunny days like today, you can't beat the feel of a roadster with the top down, a real pleasure even at low speeds.

Saw a couple of guys out today with the tops down, naturally felt a tad envious.

There will be absolutely no drinking and driving- not even one drink.

Going out and picking up boys at bars is what the CTA and cabs are for. :)

And remember, this all hinges on whether or not I get a decent raise. ;)

Yes, I miss my convertibles too. It's been over ten years since I owned a car. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a toy to drive around in once in a while.

Good news lee!

No, it's not a Dodge Challenger Convert. It is the production Camaro Convertible. :p

I wish I was alive during the emergence of muscle cars. I would have loved to see a brand new 69 camaro roll down the street. *drool*

My first new car was actually a 1981 Camaro, like the blue one pictured here. It was the last year of the big bodies, before they cam out with the "european running shoe" style.

I was thinking of that car today after I got passed by a cherry 1970 model, same color scheme as the one pictured.

Oh, the things I would do for a Dodge Challenger. Mine would be hard top and the new Plum Crazy Purple. Has to have a Hemi. It would be blasphemy to buy 6 cylinder.

Why not the Charger? The Challenger really can't handle well at all.

Cars are really one of the primary ways that we express ourselves and our image. Ex: mini van vs camaro.

One could also consider them toys. There's nothing wrong with a kid getting a Big Wheel; nor is it wrong for an older dude to get a convertible.

Just have to remember what's really important... family & friends.

I never really liked convertables

I prefer a nice sedan, Like the Holden SS V-series.

Car nuts.

Just keep repeating to yourself over and over, "A car is not an extension of my manhood. A car is not an extension of my manhood. A car is not...."
It may not be an extension of my manhood, but it's absolutely an extension of my personality. :)
