Could care less about this silver vs. black bezel BS. Totally irrelevant to me.

Went 15" hi-res AG. I hate the reflections of glossy. In addition, want to be up and operating anywhere I want with no thought given to lighting, shading, proximity to windows, sunlight, etc. Life's too short. And that's it.......

To me. this is a no-brainer. As always...YMMV!

Totally, totally satisfied with my choice. In the final analysis, there was no choice. AG was the only option I ever considered.

- I am afraid you are going to get very dissapointed. There are no Apple Stores in Copenhagen. In fact, none in Denmark at all. I live in Denmark and have the exact same problem. I can't get to see the AG screen in real life because we have no Apple Stores.. We only have certified resellers, which, to my knowledge, does not carry the AG screens.

See http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/

Eplehuset & Humac. Some of them got to have a matte display..

I voted for HR glossy because I will get the glossy first but I intend to use it with a AG film. I just like the silver bezel not that much. I also do not need perfect colors and I currently have a glossy notebook with a film on it and it just looks better than real matte notebooks, as the matte just blurs but does not really have any anti reflection component. I hate reflections and if my idea does not work because it might be different with the glass between panel and film, I will return it and get the AG version.
I think the worst reflections are also not outside but inside or in the shade when you try to watch a movie or something with a lot of dark stuff and you have all those small reflections that completely disappear with any AG display.

I will let everybody know how it looks if I stick with it. But I will not buy it till end of May or beginning of June.

Glossy

I have the glossy i5. Is there some sort of film I can place on the screen in order for the reflections to tone down a little.

15'' HiRes Glossy.

I was going to get the matte but I always had a matte and like other peoples' glossy machines a lot so I decided to give it a whirl.

High res Glossy! I hate that silver bezel and honestly, the glossy is better than i expected. I rarely use my computer outside so the glossy was really the best choice for me anyway, but its really no big deal for anyone. If there is a glare on the screen, all i have to do is move the computer a bit to the left or right and problem solved. Im lovin my new MBP

Ordered 17" i7 Glossy display. I have an iMac 24" Glossy display and don't see reflections it is an amazing screen. When you are really focusing on work you really can't see it. And how many of you spend time with your laptop outside? I had an Anti-Glare version before and went outside with it, you can't see crap on the screen on a sunny day, unless you are in a shade.

Hi Rez Glossy here... My eyes don't like the shimmer the matte display gives off.

I know this topic is about the 15", but just to add my 12 cents to the glossy or not discussion: I ordered the glossy 17" and got it a few days ago. I chose that screen because I wanted the higher contrast and better color. Well, it only took me a half hour to decided return it.

The screen was a virtual mirror, and it had TOO much color, like someone turned the color setting knob all the way to 11. So I returned that one and ordered the anti-glare version. Still waiting for that one to get here.

I went to the store to check out the new MBPs for the first time, mainly to compare the screens. I know people have said that the matte screens lack punch in the color and whatnot, but wow... I'm definitely getting a matte when the time comes. the glossy on my iPad is nice, but for working, I think matte will work just fine.

honestly, both are great, but I think the matte is a lot better than people are making it out to be- maybe that's why it's the only option for the higher end models that are on sale in the store.

I have the anti-glare and much prefer it to the glossy screen. The matte screen is plenty crisp and sharp, renders colors in an eye-pleasing way, and can be used anywhere without concern for overhead lights, reflections, etc. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Finally I had the chance to go see Matte VS Glossy in a local Apple Supplier Store.

I have had 2 glossy MBP's in the past, which did fine. But, after seeing Matte display in real life, I must admit that Matte is the only real way, especially for me since I am a photographer. It is a beauty to look at!

I have been converted, matte all the way :D Just placed my order for the 15" i7, finally! :D

Edit: Btw, the silver look around the display is awesome! I thought it looked cheap in the photos ive seen on the net, but in real life it suits the MBP design and looks very cool.

Just to update on the situation in Denmark:

I have gotten replies from Humac. None of their stores carry the 15" Anti-Glare model. Eplehuset Roskilde and Eplehuset Aarhus have also replied that they do not carry any MacBook Pros with AG screens.

Eplehuset's stores in Copenhagen and Slagelse haven't responded yet...

Eplehuset in Copenhagen has a 17" AG on display. That was the one that made me decide on HR AG display on my new 15". I saw it saturday.

- Alright. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Eplehuset Slagelse has reported that they do not have MacBook Pros with AG on display.
In addition, I have asked Humac if they carry the 17" AG MacBook Pro. They haven't responded yet.

EDIT 2: Eplehuset in Copenhagen has reported that they do not carry any of the new MacBook Pros, but that they do, in fact, have a MacBook Pro 17" with anti-glare display (though it is from before the 13th of April).

EDIT 3: Humac has responded to my question of 17" MBPs: They do not have any MacBook Pros (or other machines for that matter) with the AG screens.
Looks like Eplehuset in Copenhagen is the only place in Denmark with an AG display...

are more on here buying antiglare over glossy?

Based on the poll yes, but I hadn't bought mine yet when this poll was still going, so I'd be another HR-GLSY owner in the list. I'm so happy with my MBP it's just great, and the screen is amazing.

This is my first macbook pro or my first mac ever. I went for the hi-res anti-glare option. Glad I did.

No glass. No reflection. Pretty simple. Pro anti glare. I laugh each time I see someone with glass. I wonder why they spend so much money to look through a window to see the screen. Makes no sense.

Crazy to spend the extra funds on antiglare for another $150, what a waste of money. Makes no sense, apple has you by the b**** Not only that, but the resolution sucks.

What's with the "I don't use my laptop outside much so I'm better with Glossy???"

I've used both Glossy and Anti Glare MBPs indoors, never outdoors, and the Glossy looks great, as does the Anti Glare. In fact they both have amazingly bright and vivid displays,, but... The Glossy has reflection issues, even indoors, and especially in low light/bed side lamp situatons.

For me is has to be the Anti Glare.. Easier on the eyes, better colours, still bright, little reflections, nice designn wise too..

Though the Glossy is also nice. They are both great computer displays, but with the Glossy watch out for the reflections, indoors or out, day or night.

Above all, check out both types before buying. And nobody should dismiss the Anti Glare because it doesn't look as nice, as that comes down to personal preference, and in my opinion, it looks amazing.

Yes, the price is an issue, and Apple should offer them at similar prices. But when you're paying so much for a computer and you want a matte display, obviously Anti Glare is the only option on a MBP.

It's not a waste of money for someone that wants a certain type of display on a laptop they plan to use a lot over the next few years or more.

The resolution is the same btw, so doesn't suck. Looks great actually.
