Really no other choices out there. I had a Samsung Blackjack 2 and didn't like the Windows Mobile software at all. I really struggled with that. Before that, i had a RAZR. I returned the Samsung and was actually happier back with my black RAZR.

But now i'm totally loving my iPhone 3G. I feel at home with it. I've always only worked on Macs.

that's true, the original windows mobile does suck, but the one on the htc diamond is a pretty well-improved version. In my opinion, it comes 2nd or 3rd after the iPhone OS.

If there was no such thing as an iPhone then I would have went with a Nextel i880 (I was blind to blackberrys back then). If right now I couldn't get an iPhone then I would wait for a Blackberry Bold, it's sexxxxy.

I'd still have my old Nokia 6200. None of the other "smart phones" hold any interest for me.

Well, I was using the Treo 650 for two years before the iPhone came out. I was seriously thinking about getting the newer model Treo and instead got the iPhone. So there you go, I would have been using a Treo. All the cards fell in place, my contract was up in June and so was the iPhone!

I have a Blackberry 8800 and a Sprint Touch. I'd probably just continue using those. They're both capable but Blackberry is about as exciting as milk and HTC doesn't support their hardware. I was planning on taking a look at the Treo 800w before the iPhone was released so I could be using that. The 700wx was a very nice phone but about as physically appealing as a brick.

Probably a Blackjack II (AT@T) or a Treo 755p (Alltel). The new Palm 800W would be at the top of my list, but it's only available to Sprint ...blech.

I was recently using this:

But had been eyeing this one for an upgrade:

Of course, once I saw the iPhone 3G, I put those plans aside. It seemed a little bit better.

My trusty K750i! That phone chugs along like no other. Has better sound quality than the iPhone and it's about 4 years old! Love it to death. One of SE's best phones ever, in my opinion (I've used many).

I'd probably be stuck with my old Nokia 8800/8801 which I truly loved!.
Or the Vertu Ascent.

Why not smartphones? I'm so tired of Windows Mobile (and I don't like the UI of the Blackberry either since I don't urgently need their email service), and I'm bored of Symbian...

I'm the same. Treo 650. The new load of GSM Treos aren't very good. I actually bought the original iPhone last year, but sold it after a few weeks because my Treo still worked better.

Recently, some of the keys started to malfunction on my Treo so I retired it in favour of the iPhone 3G.

The T650 is solid. I've dropped it countless times and it still works fine. I dropped my iPhone on to the pavement on the first day of use  , luckily it landed on the backside. I rushed out and got a case for it after that. I'll bet if it landed on the front side, I would be using my T650 right now.

So many phones - so little time!

My collection pre iPhone is here...

What you dont see here is the Treo650 which was fabulous, but i got the Wizard free when i signed to a Flext T-Mob contract for the web n walk - data was getting seriously expensive.

My ideal non iPhone is probably the new HTC Touch Pro - it has almost everything except its not an iPhone - and I love the iPhone interface, no matter what they stick on top of WM6 its not finger friendly, and I keep loosing my stylus :) The asus windows smartphone was so nearly perfect too - and the keyboard was great, but it wasnt reliable and i missed the touch screen :)

probably a razr or similar cheap verizon phone. the iphone was the first phone that ever made me want to move beyond a basic handset.
