If you had to leave your country and choose another one to live, where would it be?

I picked New Zealand. Closest thing to where I live now, Canadian West Coast. Would have picked Australia, but too many floods/fires/storms lately.

Assuming I would become a citizen. I would have to choose Switzerland. As I understand it they have some of the best gun ownership laws in the world. The people have liberty. Plus they are still maintaining separation from the European Union.

May not be the best reason. As I understand it the guns are strictly inspected by the government to insure proper storage. So, you actually are inviting the government inspectors into your home in order to have the freedom to own the gun....

Alaska...

Seriously, I would pick Australia if they would let me in. They have all this stuff that interests me like spiders, deadly snakes, jellyfish and sharks. And everything is upside down from here in the Pacific NorthWest.

But politically, it's a nightmare in Australia. It's just right-wing or ultra-right-wing politics and no antidotes to that! Seriously, it's become small-target, me-too politics, or oppose the other party for the sake of it.

Argh - that's the thing I hate about this country here, the media and the two main political parties carry on about rubbish that doesn't affect me or most people for that matter - while ignoring the big issues that do affect us, the day to day things that we rely on, infrastructure, etc!

Come on, put in more realistic cycle-ways that are off-the-road, ones that are useful to people - and you'll get more people not driving their cars, which is better for those that do have to drive their cars. That and better public transport options.

That's one of the reasons I'd move elsewhere.

I love Japan but I don't speak enough Japanese to really manage there.

I have some guaranteed work I could do in Canada and I could easily come back to visit relatives in the states. So after they deport me I guess I'm Canada-bound.

Remember, you can only purchase and use goods and services that are created, manufactured or offered by that country.

This is arbitrary and unrealistic. International trade is a pretty ancient phenomenon.

That aside, it doesn't change my answer: Italy.

Why? Aside from being the most beautiful and wonderful country I've visited, they have fast cars, amazing food, and gorgeous women.

I'm thinking Canada or Germany. I've lived in Germany before, so I'm familiar with the country, and I'd love to be able to live there again. Canada, I've never visited, but what I've heard so far makes me wish I'd live there. It sounds like a beautiful and politically stable (and sane) country, with diversity and tolerant residents.

Right now I'm from the States, but if I had to get up and move, it would be the UK. (permanent).

If given the choice for a temporary job offer, it would be Germany. France is nice too, but No parlez français! (??) haha. German is easy to learn though.

Crap. Nasty politics to go with nasty spiders, snakes and jellyfish. forgot the sharks.. Maybe the politicians are the sharks?

Japan, closer to the heart of my industry. But Canada in a close second for completely different reasons.

Don't think I could live in America, London or Mediterranean places. Don't like the tiles.
