If it comes down to two people arguing over Mac/PC then clearly you've entered the idiots kingdom so whatever you say, isn't going to make any difference. Personally, I believe there should be an option for "bitch slap both of them" but whatev.

Nope, arguing over such things is just silly. I'm happy to discuss my reasons for using mac products with anyone who is interested in such matters, but I'm not a mac apologist. Personal electronics are tools and what tools people use comes down to their personal preference.

I'll be honest...

If this argument was about trying to influence someone on what their future purchase should be, I'd join in and probe a little bit and find out more about the person who's making the purchase. If I felt this is a person who would benefit from Apple products, I would then move onto explain how the rest of the Apple ecosystem works and how it manages to tie in all products so seamlessly. For me, that is the biggest appeal with it comes to owning Apple stuff. Everything "just works" together so easily, so I would sell them on that.

Now, if the argument is just a matter of two nerds battling over who's got the superior product, then, no, I would stay out of it because there's nothing more frustrating than arguing your points with someone who's determined to "win" and be right no matter what. I've had those arguments before (iOS vs. Android) and I've come to realize that it can be as messy as debating religion, politics, or abortion.

This is exactly how I feel.

Some people I recommend to not get a mac because it does not match their needs.

I think people finally realized PCs are junk. The automobile market is dominated by cheap cars too. So does that make them better?

Accept Windows 7 is a more capable and compatible OS than OSX?

If people realized PCs are junk, why do they ship more PC's in one qauter than Apple has ever made Macs in its existence?

Seriously, Apple hardware is a joke in my industry.

Anyone who thinks " apple is better for everything " doesn't know what the **** they are talking about.

OSX, Win 7 and Server have advantages and disadvantages. Both serve a purpose.

Like PCs and Macs, both are meant for different people.

And I hate to burst your bubble, there are some PC OEMs that blow the hell out of anything Apples makes in build quality and performance.

Boring and not worth the energy. Everybody shouts their talking points at each other and then congratulates themselves for schooling yet another fanboy. That really covers a lot of arguments though, not just Mac vs. PC.

If I thought it was a constructive conversation that'd be a different matter. I was at a family reunion a few weeks ago and a relative was plotting out their next computer purchase. It's a lot easier to discuss pros and cons when the target audience is receptive to both or at least doesn't think you're some sort of a blind zealot, so that I didn't mind getting involved in.

I'd like to be able to say I would take the high road and completely avoid such childish affairs, I really do...

...But in all honestly I probably wouldn't be able to avoid the temptation. Though I'd probably be more of a mediator of sorts, I really don't have a specific preference over one or the other anymore.
