If you care even remotely about the price of your watch, apple watch edition isn't for you. The people who'll be buying it see a status symbol, not a purchase.

More on topic however, Apple watch is a fashion item AND a gadget. I can't think of any wearable that matches it in both areas for £500. For £299, maybe the Moto 360 or g watch r, but above that, there really isn't any competition.

Interesting points... I just have to point out that I don't even have any android device so an android wearable is totally out of the question. Sure it's cheaper, but u have to realize you have to have a matching android phone.

then what is a better deal than the 349/599/10k apple watches?

what better watch/anything can you get for 399?

what better watch/anything can you get for 599?

what better watch/anything can you get for 10k?

Just curious.

I don't get it. Are you asking what could possibly be a better purchase at $10k than an Apple Watch, or just what better watch?

Something tells me the OP is a guy preordering an Apple Watch Edition with a fresh line of Barclays credit on day 1. ;)

If that's the case, I think it could backfire quite bady.

Thanks for posting about the sale! I had a moto 360 and ended up returning it due to battery life and didn't need to read much on the screen. I mostly liked getting notifications on my wrist. Sounds like the Martian Notifier will do that and if the notifier part battery dies I still have a watch. Ordered it. Thanks again.

Mike

Glad to be of service.

I was sorely tempted to buy one at that price, but I can't see myself abandoning my trusty old mechanical watch. It's been with me for decades and I love it, but sometimes, seeing all these sexy new "wearables" emerging, I secretly wish I didn't have it! It all feels a bit like, "till death do us part". Oh well. :)

The problem with the Watch is that the benefit of having one is not super obvious. It's like the iPad, which was viewed as a solution to a problem nobody had.

But the more time people got to spend with an iPad, the more they loved it. And then Apple sold tons.

I'm certainly going to get an Apple Watch on launch day. I think a lot of people remain unconvinced, but over time, many of them will get to see one on their friends wrists, or try one in a store, and their minds will end up changing. It will just take time.

Not Quite.

Prior to the iPad there was a huge gap in the market for a cheap computer that wasn't crap.

Smartwatch is a harder sell because A) it duplicates features of the smartphone and B) the cost (especially for an AW) is high. People will be split between buying a new iPhone and a new AW this fall.
