Personally I'd consider alternative of going with Wacom tablet? For me using a mouse for illustration has always felt like drawing with a crayon clenched in middle of my hand :(

Can take a week or two to get used to as primary device though; even if you dont use it for everything long term, its worth a week or two of using it as the only pointing device. That way you get comfortable enough with it to use it in illustrator etc without constant need to switch to a mouse when dealing with menus etc.

I never try a table... but!!! my work in photoshop is not related with photo retouch and things like draw... etc... my work is for web... pure UI/UX so now I even dont use photoshop or ilustrator... I use http://bohemiancoding.com/sketch/ so I dont need draw or paint this... so the mouse is enough...

Im between two:

and
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Prot...409680523&sr=1-1&keywords=logitech+mouse+game

the game mouse seems to have more battery life and buttons but Im not a gamer! but well maybe can use those buttons for many actions in work? mmm or the Performance MX is enough.

ABOUT LOGITECH REVOLUTION!
well yes! a lot people say that is better than new... the new have some good things like the little usb connector vs the old big... but the point is THE REVOLUTION still work with mavericks and with the new future yosemite?
also is expensive buy a new old one... $100 or more...

the guy that is happy for get a free magic mouse! I just say "man send to trash that thing, you hand! health is more important than a thing that just looks cool, buy a ergonomic mouse ;)

I got the logitech performance mx today!
5 hours of use and I hate it! a brick!!!! so heavy...
I can select precise things... this thing dont work for precise work like ilustrador etc...

I dont know why but I feel so imprecise... maybe is for the heavyness? or is a bad unit?
select a thing or close a window (red button) is so hard... I need stop close to the target and move very slowly to select a thing or close a window I dont know how explain but MOVE and WORKING fast and free with this thing is imposible... and YES change the speed many things in settings bla bla... but dont works well...

I go to buy and try the more cheap Logitech M510, maybe is more light and more precise! or I need try other brand????

question to owners of Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse!!! please:

the weight!!! is more heavy than the wireless MIGHTY mouse 132g??? (yes the old apple mouse with two batteries)

I hate the mighty mouse wireless weight! so I need something less heavy, so please the Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse is less heavy than the 132grams of the Mighty????

I cant find the weight of the Logitech M510 with two batteries.

I cant believe that 510 is more heavy than the Performance MX!!! ??? performance mx is heavy as hell, I hate it!

I understand the weight issue. The 510 is about 87g, presumably empty. Add another 50 g for batteries, and you're at or above the 132g of the MightyMouse.

You might not like it, but a cheap Dell USB mouse could be the way to go. Best I can tell, they're around 68g, so nice and light. USB mice can be significantly lighter because you don't have to add a power source.

However, I've also switched to a tablet for general navigation & CAD work. I use the Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch. The pen is really nice for precision work, and it has the added benefit of working like a traditional trackpad (2 finger scroll even works). It's not as nice or as smooth as a Magic Trackpad, but it works well enough.

You guys like to work with light mice. I have been using a heavy mouse for a long time and that's what I prefer. If it is wired, I hate it when the cable is able to pull back the mouse.

I find the Mighty Mouse weight is perfect.

I'm using an ancient Logitech MX Laser circa 2004. I have a pile of mouse contenders somewhere but nothing has displaced this.

I guess it also depends on the type of work you do, in addition to personal preference. I do CAD work professionally, so lots of short, side-to-side movements have really taken their toll on my wrist. (Bad ergonomics haven't helped). The additional weight of a wireless mouse made it more difficult for me, especially when trying to make precision movements.

My wrists ended up hurting a lot less at the end of the day then when I used a lighter (corded) mouse. However, the wacom pen is even lighter (about 17g), and holding the pen keeps my wrist almost perfectly straight (which is great for ergonomics).

Different battery types can reduce the Magic Mouse weight, alkaline is heaviest, carbon is medium, lithium is lightest. I switched to carbon batteries and it was noticeable. Reduced weight from about 104g to 92g.

510 works with just one battery?

which dell usb???
I found this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=332-1399
is good???
https://www.google.com/search?q=WM5...u4LABg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg&biw=1089&bih=554&dpr=2

by the way, agian the performance mx is pure crap!!! or mine is a bad unit! apart that is a brick heavy as hell... is not accurate, is hard!!! select things, I compare with the tiny mac white logitech http://appleinsider.com/articles/13...macbook-owners-with-new-ultrathin-touch-mouse and that is another tiny crap! for kids... BUT!!!!!! is accurate!!!! you can select things easy!
I move so fast with a mouse... so I know when is accurate or dont... with that tiny is simple select things and use it... but again performance MX is not!!! beware!!!!! save your money! maybe that DARKSHIELD working on glass is bad... so I go try the 510 without that Darkshield, I hope combine two things... more big than the tiny white and acurate like the tiny... and less big than the mx!

It looks like the 510 takes 2-AA batteries.

I was actually referring to a wired USB mouse. I should have been more clear. Since they're wired, they draw power from the computer and don't have to have batteries. They aren't as nice looking, especially if you obsess over cable porn, but I'm choosing function over form in this case.

I've honestly never tried the Performance MX. I had a 510 and I liked that, but it eventually died. I replaced it with a Marathon mouse for a while, but I found that one to be too heavy (though everything else about it was great). Up until recently, I'd just been using the built-in trackpad on my Air and a wired USB mouse from Dell at work until I got the Wacom. Now the Dell mouse sits in a drawer at my desk.

Have you tried using the trackpad? I find it much better than using a mouse, but I don't do any graphics.

Decided to use the wired and cheap Logitech M100 mouse paired with the Logitech K120 keyboard.

Both cheap, work well, and you won't worry about breaking either of them.

Sad part is that they tried to sell me a service contract on the mouse at Office Max for $20, when the mouse was on sale for less than $9.

Both are replacements for failed mouse and keyboard, the keyboard a K120 repurchase for a doused keyboard, and the mouse for a much more expensive trackball.

I'm just using my Macbook's trackpad, or a Rollermouse Pro.

But I'd really like to have something more ergonomic.

I'd like to get away from my Logitech USB mouse/keyboard and use bluetooth. Is there another recommended BT mouse that is not the Magic Mouse? I've see this one also from Logitech, but somewhat mixed reviews.

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Ultrathin-Touch-Windows-Gestures/dp/B00DR8LA6U

Any experiences with it (or others) that connect via BT? Thanks!

I have that ultrathin here... and I hate it!!!
believe is very small, maybe for a kid... or more NON heavy computer user.

mine is white and after just 5 days! yes you read well 5 days, the thing start turn it YELLOW for finger use... also scroll horizontal is not accurate... moves so easy... a very bad and expensive mouse if you ask me... a toy kid soap.

Bummer to hear. The flat form factor of the Magic Mouse is not appealing to me as well. I have a Magic Trackpad too, which is great for gestures, but certain things like CAD and Excel I very much prefer a mouse.

I used to have a Magic Mouse but I never got comfortable using it. So I sold it along with my MBA.
Felt uncomfortable to use it, and performing the gestures didn't work as well as the trackpad.

Mostly I use Magic Trackpad, I love the gestures I can do with it, and even better together with BetterTouchTool.
I do also have a Logitech Performance MX when I have the need to use a mouse.

update: I receive the m510 Today! in change of MX

1. better ergonomics to the MX brick!
2. less heavy, weight is perfect!!
3. left back and right buttons are perfect, smooth buttons
4. click left and right buttons perfect and dont sound too much.

BUT!!!!!! THE MOST IMPORANT THINGS are still bad, the accurate... I think I need say goodbye to logitech on mac! MX have the same issue:

1. still not accurate!!! seriously... logitech have a problem in mac... move the mouse in space of 1cmx1cm and you know what Im talking about!!! the cursor jump a little bit... is very annoying, I move so fast with a mouse and is hard close a window by example... sometimes I close, sometimes I minimize... is hard!!! point the the target if you move fast, the brick MX have the same problem, so so bad again!.

2. surprise!!! scroll well DONT WORKS, is the same speed in slow and fast, no difference... is soooooooooo slow!!! I need around 5 runs of the scroll to cover a page like youtube at the bottom.... so bad... again NO DIFFERENCE between slow and fast, why????

Im in the last mavericks... all this problems are fix on Yosemite? or is even better???

damn I think I need try another brand, but what brands are good for apple?
I hope apple release a new mouse! with a better design than that soap... the only good of apple magic mouse is accurate and scrolll of course works!

so I want the same design of m510 with the brain! of the magic mouse... I live in NO perfect world :/

check the TEST that I do!!! attached! you see the logitech jumps a little bit and is hard continue the curves of a circle... so bad!

As for other Bluetooth mice, I do have the M$ Arc Bluetooth edition, and it's a bit wonky. Sometimes it connects, other times you have to turn the Mac bluetooth off/on and press the reconnect button on the mouse. Not a great experience, I'm sticking with the Logitech Cordless Wave (ie - k350) and the M510 mouse
