still not worth $550. cheap plastic JUNK.
No sound pro would use something like that.
My "cheap plastic" MDR-V6's and HD25's disagree and they have been used by sound pro's all over the world for decades.

And these aren't plastic anyhow.

All that space and they didn’t include even a little storage capacity? Imagine the capability of having some playlists/albums stored locally within the headset. That would have been convenient for some.
Accessed through what UI? (Keeping in mind that all of the existing controls already have other tasks assigned.)

Lets think about this for a second, do you headphones generally get repaired? I mean, I know when we discuss iPads, iPhones and Macs, those are serviced for many reasons, but headphones to me seem like one of those items that are just ‘replaced’ versus actually repaired. Personally, with my headphones, I’m not sure I would they want them repaired, I’d rather just have them replaced with a another unit. There’s just something about this type of design that I don’t necessarily want ‘opened and resealed’.

Battery replacements I guess. Apple is offering them for 79$ iirc so that's pretty good.

It is not an e-waste disaster. These companies trying to monetise on their repair services are hypocrites.

You can recycle the headphones à la Apple to a very high degree. It is not something that just goes into the bin.
Most of the material finds it way back into new Apple products.

Apple protocol droid confirmed.

So are they tearing them down because they are curious or only because they are made by Apple? I don’t think they tore the XM4 apart- and that is the headphones that everyone is comparing the Max to
Curious though why compare it to a (in some countries) half price (300€ vs 600) competitor...Even if considering the XM4 the ANC and market share reference...on that price tag you must be aiming higher.

What exactly do you mean by as usual? Low repair score in general or low repair score for things that should get a low repair score? I ask because Apple's most popular item -the iPhone- always gets a good repair score. Certain things don't get a good repair score because they aren't meant to be repaired.

Let me guess. You've never seen an iPhone repairability score. The clickbait.
Yesterday as I picked my unrepairable MBP from tech repair (luckily it was just free T2 firmware reset) I ask my tech guy for an estimate for repair my IPhone XS broken back glass. His response: a new phone. Apple does not provide parts for that, only for the front glass. I guess that’s Okay for some...

You're telling me only Mac that's meant to be repaired is the Mac Pro (9 out of 10) while every other Mac such as the 15" MacBook Pro (1 out of 10), 16" MacBook Pro (1 out of 10), or MacBook Air (3 out of 10) is to be thrown away and replaced with a new one when it stops working?

Do you work for Apple?
I guess it’ll depend how old is the machine. Older than 4 years probably means the repair price will be unreasonable, p.e. Broken trackpad in 2018 15”MBP means new case including keyboard...you get the picture?

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

In my household, they're a split decision: 3/5 in favor of Beats and Sony design over these.

I happen to be in the minority and love the techno-industrial elegant look, even if the green ones remind me of my Air Force-issue Dave Clarks.

That’s true, for some like me, the headband is just disgraceful. As for material and design in that price tag I was hoping for something more in line with these.

Or even better

It all boils down to whether or not the battery is replaceable and if so, how difficult it is to replace it.

That’s it. That’s 95% of the repairability factor in regards to how long the product can last. The main issue with regular AirPods is that the battery can’t practically be replaced, so the entire headphones die. That’s what I’m hoping to see avoided here.
Finally, somebody who gets it!

Agree - that's the issue I have with these "repairability" scores; their relevancy. The things that matter in terms of how easy it is to repair/replace them are the consumable parts (batteries, bits that wear away such as ear cushions) and parts that are likely to get damaged (e.g. iPhone screens). The fact that the RAM might not be accessible on my HomePod mini is of no practical significance, whereas on an iMac it does matter. That's what these scores should be based on, the things that are likely to to need replacement (which conveniently often seems to coincide with the things that are excluded from the warranty).

Did they get already the box with chrome wheels for extra 500$? Maybe in a few weeks there will be a pro version?

Apple is starting funny things. Selling cheap stuff for big money...

Some people are more inquisitive than you and like to know “what’s inside.”

You can’t just include “storage”, if you do you also need to add dedicated chip, memory and so on, basically you are building the device that will stream to the headphones inside the headphones...

No sound pro would use something like that.
There is no plastic in this product and I am sure I can safely beat you are no “sound pro”.
