I planned on getting white just because my iPhone 4 was black and I wanted a change but I kept looking at the black one and man it is classy looking. But I started thinking of the surface and went with white. If it's truly anodized it should be pretty durable other than scratches and nicks. Don't see it "rubbing" off. But yeah I'm sure there'll be some kind of "gate" coming on in the next few weeks and this one is as good as any.

Yeah, it's those particularly sharp chamfers that will be the problem - I can't see a way around that in hindsight. I'd read they were using coloured metal before I ordered, seems that's not the case.

Ahhhh

Fedex is still holding my phone captive.:confused: I honestly wouldnt mind them waking me up at 3am if it came down to it.. I mean assuming I wasn't still up. :D:apple:

That me too, the vibrator in 4S was hardly even noticeable when in my pant pocket. I hope this one will be more noticeable.

That's probably why it was changed. I've heard from friends with the 4S that the previous motor was simply too weak. Even with the motor in my iPhone 4, I've missed calls. What I need is a motor that shakes the phone out of my pocket!

Of what purpose does tearing apart an iPhone serve? How many reports are there of someone tearing down the latest and greatest hot dog? Most people purchase the product because it serves its purpose well (yum-yum), not because of its component parts. Trust me, you don't want to know what's in that hot dog.

Yeah I don't want to know what's in my hot dog..... Ignorance is bliss but man those guys at iFixit have a great job. I would love to be able to open up all the newest tech and poke around. Of course when I was a kid I was always taking something apart to see what's inside. Old radios, watches etc. great fun!

Vibrator choice concerns is not just a nerd thing. A linear transducer is very likely to last far longer than a small brushed motor. It's common for the old school motor with counter weight to get louder and more obnoxious as the motor shaft bushings wore out. For people who are always muted, like my family, the motor will be getting a workout.

The reason they vibrate is due to the un-balanced weight. This also wears out the motor shaft. I would opt for a linear transducer any day.

We'll see...

Edit, if Samsung has the patent for linears, then just buy them from Samsung.

Get a job...

I'm actually incredibly discouraged that it only went up 2 mAh.

Seriously?!? 2?!

I'm HOPING they found some way to make that terrible ~1430 mAh last longer but I'm sick and tired of Apple focusing so much on thinness and not enough on battery life. My wife's 4S is absolutely horrible. Can't make it until 3-4 PM most days. (And yes, I've tried everything possible.)

I'm going to stay optimistic because reviews seemed to suggest battery life is OK on i5 but I'm definitely skeptical.

Tell her to get a job instead of fiddling whole day long with her phone.... Now THAT will do the trick..... Battery life will extend to prob. two days... :D

She does have a job. Sexist of you to assume she doesn't.

Her 4S battery is terrible.

Stop being so sensitive. No one said she didn't have a job because she's a woman. Real cases of sexism and racism are diminished when people cry out whenever anything remotely negative is said where a gender or race is vaguely involved.

That said, the only way I have only gotten 4 hours out of my phone was if I was fiddling on it all the time. There must be something running that is draining the battery.
