iGary, I got it on tape, but sounds like clayj got a nicer copy via Tivo. I'll hold on to the VHS until you let me know you've got it, just in case.

btw, I was expecting fire and brimstone. Were you exaggerating, or did they do you a friendly edit job? ;)
It took a while to burn the show to DVD, but I finally got it to work:

1. Sony's Click to DVD software didn't like that I had recorded the show in Windows XP MCE 2005, which apparently slaps copyright protection on everything to try to stop you from burning it to DVD. (This wasn't an issue in MCE 2004, which is what I was using the last time I burned a DVD: myself on the 6 o'clock news a year ago talking about the Carolina Panthers being back for another season. Especially funny because I used the word "hierarchy" and they actually broadcast it.)

2. Then, I tried using MCE's native DVD burning capability. This worked, but it put the big MPEG file on the DVD as if it were a data DVD; it couldn't be played in a standard DVD player, nor on a Mac.

3. Finally, I used Roxio Easy Media Creator. THAT worked.

So it took 2 DVDs to figure this out; one that failed and one that plays fine in a DVD player. I'll send it to Gary as soon as I get a chance to go to the Post Office.

I don't have cable so I didn't see it. Can anyone post a link to the part that iGary is in, as someone has promised?
It is probably illegal to that, but I wont tell anyone. :D

Awesome - Thanks, Clay. :)

Gary, did you try asking the network for a digital file to be sent to you? The least they could do IMO.

To be honest, Chip, I never thought it was going to air - this was seriously like a year ago.

And no, you sign away all of your rights when you sign the release. They'd tell me to go eff myself if I wanted a copy.

It's OK, sounds like a couple VERY NICE people here hooked me up.

Thanks!

It was funny here last night - when it was on, people I hadn't talked to in years were calling, e-mailing....they are still e-mailing today. :)

After the last three weeks, it was kind of a nice, light reprieve.

Man, that is some post production time. :D

Other than 15 minutes of fame, why did you sign off? When I had cable, I watched the show, and wondered what made people willing to be shown like that (haven't seen your segment - hopefully you were one of the saner ones). Just curious.

Now if they will only connect the rest of of with a download somewhere.

Know what you mean. When CNN did a piece on SAIN and my efforts back in the early 80's, I heard from people that I had not heard from in a long time. This went on for a year almost, I guess it made good "B roll" stuff when there was nothing else to run.

Dang! I wanna see this! If someone sends this to me, I'll create a torrent and seed it fully...? :)

And to answer Chip - They were just following me around, and after all the hub bub, asked me to sign a release and I was like, what the hell, sure.

Can't explain it.

w00t! :D

asif, I'll then send it to you. Lol. This could take some time.. ;)

iGary - I would've been in a mood after what it seems you went through.. Would've told them to shove off..

Stayed up till 1:00 to see the encore, and must admit that you didn't make too big of a fuss. Then again, it is all relative...;)

I would have signed my name "Saddam F'n Hussein"

I finally got to see it. They cut out a lot of my worst behavior, which is probably good.

Thank you, ClayJ for the DVD.

you should ask the network for a copy of the unedited version...

That is the first time I have seen myself on TV - very surreal. I actually like myself a lot better. I have this self-perception of walking around looking like a grump. The little smile after I get on the final plane warmed my heart.

Thanks so much to everyone who recorded. I'm going to send an extra copy to my technology-chellenged relatives, and this will definitely get played at Thanksgiving.

The tall guy was an asshat. Get there early, get an A card, and get in line.

The preboarding (not children mind you, but people with disabilities) is federal law. Southwest was nice enough to give me one (and the federal law is printed on the special jacket) when I bought my fathers ashes home so "we" could get settled nicely and quietly.

Or hosted on the web somewhere....

i doubt iGary has the time to snip out just the bits he's in, but if clayj or gary himself can get me the full file i can 'do the snipping' and get it online. i love airline usa anyway :D

Sorry, but the digital file here was copy-protected and it's a miracle I was able to get it burned onto a standard playable DVD. I've already deleted the dvr-ms file. (Plus, it was well over 2 GB in size. Not exactly something you can e-mail or FTP.)

Honestly guys, it's not that much footage. The Chicago "Superman" guy got a lot more coverage.

If I ever get time to pull apart a couple of the DVD's I'm getting I will.

I'd be really interested to see another Mac Rumors member on TV. Hopefully somebody seeds this and gets a torrent going on this clip. A lot of people would love to see this I'm sure as this thread is showing.

I have a few DVD copies...if someone is willing to pull apart the DVD and get someone to host it, I will send them the DVD.
