Hi all...i have just installed IPhoto 5.

I'm working with multiple libraries (using IPhoto Buddy to switch).

I imported all libraries yesterday without any problems.

But today when i switch to a library, i get the same error message: "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it.". The second library is still working!

I did the rebuild permission procedure, and i checked if everything is OK with the library permissions, i even compared the tow libraries' permissions.

And it's looking good!

Any solutions for this problem?

Thank you!

Maybe manually checking the properties of each library folder and changing them (if need be)...

What do you mean by manually checking? I did a right click and get info and checked the permissions and i have read&write to the whole directory...

Oh yes! My order shipped last night. Now I've got the cautious 2-3 day wait.. Thing is, it may turn up today (my Apple orders have arrived the next day sometimes in the past) but it will probably be Monday. I'm the only one around in the house at the moment, so I'd better delay that shopping trip for my mum's birthday.. :D

Did you check the online order status of the carrier that Apple is using. Could alleviate some anxiety. That way you won't have to disappoint your Mum. What do you plan on getting her?

I'm not sure what to get my mum - never am - but now I'll have to get something either tomorrow afternoon or Monday morning (again a prime time for delivery). Running out of time fast and not any more of a clue of what to get her.. :p Any ideas? :D

My iLife/iWork order is getting shipped via TNT UK. I have a tracking reference number but it says "shipment not found" when I type it in the TNT website. So I'm in the dark! To make matters worse, I get a server error when I access my Apple order status website from my Mac, so I have to use our PC!

Yeah, thats where I was going with this... I have found the priveledges thing a bit flakey from time to time.

I reckon Apple left the iPhoto 3 slot empty, ready for the next OS bundled version. We may see it with Tiger.

Highly unlikely. Far more likely it was just to bring it in line with the other iLife '04 apps at the time. This is common practice in software dev.

Good for you, my order (iLife+iWork) is still open, ship estimate hasn't been changed, it still says "on or before 28/01/05". I have to admit I only ordered on Jan 17 but I would have thought Apple should be able keep ship estimates on software. I hope I'll get it by the end of next week.

For what it's worth, my order still hasn't arrived and the only chance I've got of catching it now is if it comes on Monday morning (before I go to work that day at 2pm). I'm working all day Tuesday and then am off to Bristol on Wednesday, not to come back until next Sunday. All the while, there will be no-one in the house (not to mention I'm getting impatient!)

What may be complicating my order is the fact that I've got a USB-midi cable coming with it (finally) for use with GarageBand. This could be holding things up a little (meaning it's going to be a bigger package).

I'd imagine your order may ship on Monday - I know one of my orders missed its ship date in the past. But that way my PowerBook..

I hope it will ship on Monday. I'm really excited about playing around with iPhoto 5 as well as Pages and Keynote 2 :)

EDIT: I just received shipping confirmation!

Go iLife05 - installed fine.

One bug, when deleting a photo whilst in edit mode - a photo in the bar above the edited photo - sometimes resets bar position to beginning of library. Pretty annoying...

To get this to work enter the tracking reference from the Apple Order status page into the tracking box on the TNT UK website. Make sure that delivery from outside the UK is turned off and it should work.

I ordered on the day of the keynote and it arrived on Friday

Yes, I can get it to work now, thanks. And it's in Basildon! Only the same bloody county as me! Never mind, it says next working day delivery so it should hopefully be here tomorrow morning. My brother's iBook and iPod turned up at 9am on a Monday monring, so here's hoping...

Enjoy the new apps! I'll have to wait bit longer but look forward to trying them out.

When is your order due to arrive Zaty? ;)

My delivery left the depot at 5:30am this morning. It's now 9:11am and I'm getting inpatient! Hope my house is somewhere towards the top of the delivery schedule! It needs to arrive before 2pm...!

No idea, there is still no "activity" on the shipment status. I suppose it wil leave the TNT depot in Holland today. Also, I believe the shipment status is not real time data, so it might have already left the depot. I expect it to arrive at my home in Switzerland by Thursday.

On apple's web page it says that both the "pages" and "keynote" are bith compatible with MS "word" and "powerpoint"

So does this mean that if i create a document or slideshow in iWork then bring/send it over to my freind, it will work just fine on their "word/pp"

Yes but with limitations. Apple isn't guaranteeing that every document made in iWork will look exactly the same on Word or PowerPoint - it can't - because Word and PP don't have the same rich typography and animation features. But you can be assured that anything you create in iWork will be able to be exported in Word or PP format so they can open it. The results could range on good to interesting, depending on the complexity and content of the document.

If you need 100% compatibility though, you're better off having Word and PowerPoint yourself...

**---**
Delivery update: still hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to leave a note out if it doesn't turn up in the next hour or so saying that they can leave it on the doorstep or something if they deliver it while I'm at work. Hopefully it shouldn't get nicked.. :(

That would do becasue i don't really use any of the BIG functions in eiter word or PP :p
