LOL give it a shot. If it was a month or more you guys are right but to me thats just to soon.

it was bought a "month or more" ago. Black Friday to be exact

it was your family that delayed in give you the laptop until Christmas.

How is that Apple's fault that your parents didnt give you the laptop sooner?

Yea "entitled" to software for a laptop it costs a fraction of the price to make then what they sell it for. That sounds absolutely absurd your right. Well keep letting them hit you up for money while I bitch and get what I want. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

YOU PAID FOR iLife08! That's what you got. You're not entitled to anything! When you bought your Macbook, Apple did not say oh, by the way iLife09 is coming out shortly, you'll get it for free since you bought our product. You PAID for a Macbook that listed the system specs and the software that was included in the purchase price.

Your argument has no basis, except that of a spoiled 10 year old, throwing a tantrum because mommy won't buy you that cool shinny new toy. (That's exactly what you sound like)

So let your wheel squeak, eventually Apple will stop putting grease on you and let you run off to a competitor because you're no longer worth it to Apple to make you happy. Everything Apple does for it's customers, it keeps a record of.

- Go ahead, squeak away...

To the first sentence: That's known as business. Businesses stay in business when they make a profit.
To the second: I refer you to my last post.
To the third: People who complain are annoying, I've found.
To the fourth: It doesn't seem to work for the people with iPhones wanting all these software features. It doesn't seem to work for the people wanting an xMac. Know why? It's because it only works when products are not purchased at all in protest. If people wanted to FORCE Apple to put features in the iPhone software, people wouldn't buy iPhones. If people wanted to "FORCE" Apple to make an xMac, they wouldn't buy the iMac or Mac Mini. In so much as GETTING iLife '09, you've helped contribute to Apple's mindset that people accept what they're doing. Thanks!

Ive owned both iphones and to be honest I have no complaints. I have wants like c&p n stuff but I have never called about any product I have ever owned so im not much of a complainer. This was a first and got good results. And I didnt purchase the product therefore I didnt support it.

ok cool, makes sense now. Sorry everyone, false alarm!
I'm a newbie to macs.

Do you think it will be on the new 17" MBP?
since that's shipping on the 9th feb! if not I don't mind paying it's only £7.95!

Even if it's not, you should expect to see an iLife 09 installation disc inside the laptop box. That's how Apple did it with the release of Leopard.

Anyway, for some people who are already complaining... if this attitude continues in a few decades we'll probably see "ZOMG!! I bought this laptop two years ago it came with iLife '29 IT WAS JUST TWO YEARS OLD!!! I DESERVE THE NEW ILIFE '31

Oh no r u serious they keep track!! Now they banish me to the windows world. Im so scared of this company now I will follow like a drone like you. I must get back on there good side. Maybe ill tell my mommy on them. btw i got my grease so therefore i will no longer squeak.

I am suddenly reminded of the laws of thermodynamics, and while I can't think of a reason that they would be connected to this discussion in any way, I feel compelled to point out that machines need lubricants every once in a while to reduce friction and keep the heat or tension down.

Curious.

It's painfully apparent that there are way too many neophytes who don't understand how commerce works. More cry-baby mentality that whines, "If I don't get everything I want, the way I want it, then someone else is to blame!" Grow up, already!

and you are completely missing the point

point is
1) you aren't entitled to anything as it was purchased in november with a discount since Black Friday. the fact you didn't open it until Christmas is not apple's fault

2) you were lucky getting ilife 09 for free as they could have just said "you want it, you buy it"

My issue is you think you deserved it for free when you really have no basis to get it free. I have no issue with apple being generous to you but you dont even recognize it as them being generous

Drone? No. Obviously you have no idea who I am, not that you would care either. Though I get the feeling, you'll always find something to "squeak about," I have faith in you.

See, I only own an original 16Gb iPhone and a retail copy of OSX. I have been using a Hackintosh for the past couple of months to see what all the "fuss" was about. I've liked it enough to where I'll buy a MBP next month; by the way, I still use XP and Win 7 on a regular basis.

See if you approached the situation like another poster where you just tried to get iLife09 and were successful, great good for you. To whine and cry to Apple, then brag about on a forum, childish!

Well actually if you put two and two together you would realize that I intended to pay for it but i said it got transferred and they said no charge. I was thankful and actually questioned why i got it for free and he said I dont see a need to charge you the upgrade fee of $9.95. Which I wasnt even supposed to be eligible for. So i was going to buy it they where the ones to give it to me.

See if you stated that from the beginning in that fashion without fussing as to whether Apple should do this or that - everyone would have said "glad it worked out for you."

I would have also said something like, let me know how the new faces feature actually works in the "real world," since I haven't bought my MBP yet.

The $9.95 should be shipping and handling. I'm pretty sure if they already give you free upgrade why would they give you free shipping?

Will a refurbished previous gen mbp be applicable for this offer? Just purchased one yesterday.

I would imagine it would, Apple said it applied to all Mac purchases after Jan 6th. You can always confirm by calling Apple directly or singing by an Apple store if you have one local.
