I think it's to hide any lifting you might notice with the curved edges.
I remember reading that most SP manufacturers opted not to make edge to edge because the curve would eventually cause the protector to come loose.
Coloring the borders would hide you from seeing that.
If you are talking about the glass it a very smooth. Finger glides accross it easily. What does it feel like running your finger from edge to edge?

All the edges are smooth and glass like. No rubbery feel. There is an edge but you can tell they put a small radius on it so its not sharp. What about when your finger reaches the silicone edge, is it rubberised, is it smooth? I use notification centre a lot and so it needs to glide for me to be happy!
Also how do the edges feel around the home button cutout, are they sharp, distracting?

Just got it in the mail this AM.
Here it is in the box.

Installing was easy to a point. I think that whatever they have on the rim of this thing is very sensitive to position or tolerances are not what they ought to be. I got a 1 1/2" x 1/4" separation that could not be rubbed out with the provided squeegee. After I pulled the protective layer off I rubbed almost all of it out for this pic. After the pics I rubbed a bit more and it stayed down. Here is where its just a tiny separation.

Here are a bunch of views of the cover. A couple of notes. One or two views make it look like there is an orange peel effect going on but that is really just a reflection of my surfaced ceiling. The surface is very flat and smooth as you would expect glass to be. Another note is that I took this with a macro lens and there seems to be dust everywhere..... but my house is actually very clean..

Finally here it is in my Hand and Hide Wallet.

What do I think about it?
Pros-
I think it has the best fit of any of the screen protectors I have tried so far.
It feels great.
It looks WAY better than the white iLoome pics that have been posted.
Some of the other posts make this look like its really thick. At least in Black that does not stand out to me.
Cons-
That bubble was way to hard to get rid of. But I did get rid of it (not a dust problem either)
You can still see some sort of separation along the black border between the black and the clear screen. This, I think, is a tiny air separation due to imperfect contact with whatever they use on the edges. OR its a bond line of whatever they use of for the cured edge. In either case its not perfect but the good news is, to me, its not too noticeable.
So..... it is not perfect. But its pretty good. I am keeping it till something better comes along![]()
