What a stupid room mate.

But, OP, surely you really didn't need any confirmation of this, you must have realised that it was yours when your room mate got one straight after yours was stolen?

First off I live in a house with 4 other guys (all college people). I wish we could kick him out but then that means we'd have to find someone to fulfill his end of the lease and we can't afford to cover an empty room. Maybe someone on here is a lawyer and can throw me a tip

Second--this guy is 340 pounds and I am a healthy 180 9% bodyfat and would easily whoop his ass. I made it very clear that if any **** like this happens again I would bring the hammer down HARD.

He gets the point and has locked himself in his room all night and all day, hopefully he is ok but I think I handled it the best way possible.

SUGGESTIONS?

Yep, take a 5 gallon trashcan, fill it with water. Lean it against his door and knock and walk away.

Ask him if the pool is open when he opens the door and his room gets flooded.

It would be better if you were wearing goggles and your swimsuit with a towel when you did it.

Yay! closure. I'm glad everything is ok. I was kind of hoping for a beat down but I guess that'll have to wait until he forges your signature...:)

So the other 3 guys are willing to let him stay. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and find out as much information about this person as you can such as driver's license number and where his parents live. You will need it for the police report when he steals again and leaves with his car full of everyones stuff.

You have to watch out for people like your roommate. Thieves could also have other mental problems despite you being able to take him down face to face.

I've read about people going missing over things like this...

Wow all you people are being a little harsh, yeah I know if my iPhone got stolen espicially by a close friend I'd probably have a breakdown, take pills and alcohol&inject myself Lol, but have you spoke it through with him properly? Maybe he stole it because he has a drug problem and was going to sell it? Also was he a close friend? Now I have one 'friend' that I know takes stuff like money from me, but he has serious problems, hes been through alot and we've been through alot together and I know I'm only in high school but I know ****. If he's locked him self up he must be feeling really bad, I really think you should have a talk with him espicially if you are like buddys and have a history together yeah I know it would be akward as hell for him and you, I hope everything goes well and you sort stuff out between you two guys.
Tell us how it goes if anything happens (;

I'd probably get him drunk, and take pictures/movies of him in bed with a transvestite prostitute -- then take back the phone and ask for him to move out by sliding the pictures under his pillow with a get out post-it note.

Very good.

I suppose at this point it would be foolish to point out that the OP might just have been able to dial his old iPhone number and see if it rang? Got the whole thing back and working pretty quick. Room mate sounds like a moron.

Have a house meeting and see where that goes...

I'm sure he switched the SIM card.

LMFAO! After the first page, I went and made myself pop corn. This thread is too funny! I love the trash can with water idea, and the tranny idea. Who knew a computer forum could be this funny? LOL! Keep us updated OP.

Have a little "Secret" meeting with the other guys and start looking for another room mate. When you find one, kick his ass out. I know its harsh, but this douche needs to learn his lesson. Who knows, he might start stealing your bear! AND THATS WORSE THE THE IPHONE!

superglue his hand to his crotch while sleeping then take pictures as he discovers it and threaten to post them if he does not control his hands.

It's really not smart to keep live bears in the house...

I think a prank in retribution would be in order, at the minimum. Honest, you're still living with the guy? Talk about a roommate with low moral character...

Wow this is crazy. What is this moron who stole your phone studying at college anyway? Surely not a science of anykind.

Well all I can say is that you seem to be being pretty reasonable about the whole thing. Although I don't think in this case getting the police in on it is necessary, what do the other three roommates think of this guy? Are they on your side 100%? I imagine that this is going to make for an interesting house atmosphere... Good luck.

With colleges theft on school property and a confirmed case can really mess things up for the one doing the stealing, like getting booted.

Even if the college doesn't boot people sometimes some of the degree programs have a strong code of ethics ... aka, would be bad for a law school student to get caught stealing on campus.

Exactly, which is why it was probably best that this guy kept it quiet for him. Even though the OP didn't have to, anyone can make a mistake and people deserve a second chance. I would point out however how much trouble he could get in if he were reported though. Hopefully he will see the error of his ways....

It's really hard to give that someone a second chance when he is a stranger living under your roof. Have you contacted your landlord about this? Tell him that you guys now feel unsafe at night and he just might let this guy out of his lease. I don't think the landlord would want this guy causing trouble, as it is his property and technically, he may be responsible for stuff that occurs on his property. You should have a meeting with your other roommates and consider this.

School is almost over. Play your prank of the water in the trash can on the last day. :D
