Have the cranberry & vodka cocktail at sunset from the bar at Whalers Village, Kannapali (I forget the name) and have a cheeseburger from Cheeseburger in Paradise in Lahania for me if you're doing requests. Thanks ...mmmmm....cheeseburger and cocktails:D

You got it! Yes, I've heard of this Cheeseburger place, I must investigate further... ;)

Be sure to have a fantastic time! And, as others have mentioned, be sure to post a picture or two once you get back – it sounds a great destination. :)

Thanks Jaffa Cake, I plan on it! Yes, from everything we've researched, it looks like an amazing place. Pictures will definitely follow! I'll post a few here, and perhaps even set up one of those online photo album thngys like I did for my wedding pics and provide a link. (Yes, I don't have .mac... ;))

I gave up a chance to spend a long weekend in Tahiti last week, all expenses paid. Yeah, I know...don't even ask. Itching to get my feet on a sandy beach.

Have fun!

I've been to Oahu and Maui, although it was 13 years ago when I was only 12 years old.

But one day, I hope to have my honeymoon there as well. Sure, it'll cost a LOT ( ), but it'll be worth it, hopefully. After that, I'd never go back. Its really too much money unless you're going there for a good reason......a honeymoon being "a good reason."

Ever noticed how wives, especially your only wife, hate being introduced as "...and this is Britney my current wife." or "...my 1st wife." and likewise when you're out with your kids and your wife is there and someone asks "are these your children?" and you say "Yes these are my children with my first wife.":D

"Hello, this is Kate Beckinsdale, my next ex-wife."

You're right..... it does sound a bit harsh. :p

You live in California. Don't even talk. :p Some of these people live in places like Idaho or something, which isn't even close to the ocean.

They're famous for potatoes, y'know. ;)

and good riddance!

haha, just playing, i hope you have a great time Shard, and you and the wife get some time to relax.

take care and enjoy your time away.

And I grew up in Buffalo, NY with a wonderful thing known as lake effect snow. But I'm spending months in Taiwan this year (writing from my hotel room) where the beaches are unfortunately not on the World's Top 50 or even the World's Top 1000. Haha, I like Taiwan anyway for other reasons and I would not trade the experience I am having, but there ain't a beach here like the beautiful sandy shores of Hawaii or Tahiti. I may instead hop over to Guam or Phuket which are closer.

Its got nothing to do with anything but I'm hoping my parents buy a mountain cabin in Poland. i'd honeymoon there. slap me with a wet carp but I love the snow. makes snuggling up at night that little better when outside that quadruple duvet its -30ºC outside.

oh yea before i forget! have fun! like you wouldn't without me telling you too ;) but still... um. yea!

Oh God yeah I forgot to mention the snorkling! It's amazing like sticking your head in an aquarium.

You might want to mention to your wife that she puts her flippers on as she enters the water not as she leaves the hotel for the beach.....or do what I did and just photograph her and get the photos out at every dinner/party for the next 10years
:D

ohhhh lucky you! wish i could go, can you bring me back some pineapple n mangos?

Oh, there will be a lot of snorkeling and all that! As for the Haleakala Volcano, we thought about doing the bike riding actually, but instead we found this really cool horseback riding adventure which goes through the crater of the volcano, so we're going to give that a shot.

Sounds interesting! I've been to Poland, it's a very neat place actually. I wasn't there in winter though... ;) Mind you, I doubt it's any worse than it is here.

Again, thanks everyone for all your well wishes! :)

Yep, looking forward to it - I'm eager to see how it compares to Australia and the great Barrier Reef. As for the snorkeling fins, we are bringing our own equipment, so we both won't make that mistake, as funny as it would be to capture on film. ;)

Well, I'm outta here guys - off to bed and then up early for my flight out to Vancouver. And then next stop, paradise! Chat with you all again at the end of the month...

Yeah, I just went to Taiwan, and the waters aren't the best. Taipei isn't even a great city, although there are many aspects of Taipei (and other large asian cities) that I LOVE, and these things are never things that I'll get to have living in boring big cities in boring "Western" countries. And yes, I've travelled enough to make that statement meaningful.

Oh, and I was born, raised, and educated in Toronto, so I know all about Buffalo. Poor you. :p I even lived in Hamilton, Ontario for my Bachelors degree, which is only 45 minutes away from Buffalo, and yet the weather is STILL much worse in Buffalo than across the Niagara.

I'm commenting as I study in Australia, though. My live right near the beach. :D

Haven't been to Guam, but I may go to Phuket or another Thai island (forgot the name) this Dec/January for a few days while I'm in Hong Kong. I've been to Phuket before, but that was when I was around 12-13. It wasn't as commercial back then as it is now. I'm sure I won't enjoy it as much this time as I did last time.

Maybe I'll just go somewhere else.

The eastern side of Taiwan is the rugged mountain country, far nicer than the industrialized west side. Fly into Hualien, for instance, and drive north to Taroka gorge or south to a favorite white water rafting center. Spent a day rafting the rapids with a 100 other boats, each with 10 people on board. We were the only ones who managed to get flipped over! It all happened so fast, but we were being intentionally reckless and deserved it. Most memorable part of the day.

You know, I actually miss cold weather. Looking forward to going back for Thanksgiving.

I don't mind commercialization so much. It would be nice to enjoy some luxury and a ton of great food.

Tahiti!! I'm gonna have to get out there if only to say I walked, yes walked, from island to island to island to island. (Yeah, I can do this elsewhere, but it just seems better to do it there.) ;)

Well, I'm back from our honeymoon in Hawaii, and it definitely exceeded our expectations!

Our first week was spent in Maui, Kihei to be specific. A really nice area, and our condo was across the street from the beach. The area was definitely more touristy and such, but it didn't really matter. ;) We did an awesome 7 hour snorkeling trip with a small tour group of 10 people out to the Kanaio Coast (amazing sites there, not sure why more tour groups don't go there) and then the Molokini Crater in the afternoon, when no other group was there (they all go in the morning I guess.) The snorkeling was amazing - still nowhere near as good as Australia, but amazing nonetheless.

We also drove up to the Haleakala summit at 10,000 feet and did horseback riding through the crater, which was amazing. We are so glad we didn't do the bike ride down the volcano! First of all, you just ride down the highway itself, and don't get to see any of the beauty of the actual crater (which to me was the whole point!) and it looked rather stressful - they have had 50 deaths so far this year and the day we went up, a biker slid under a semi trailer and was seriously injured.

We also hit a lot of the beaches ourselves, with Big Beach being one of our favorites.

We also took in the Lahaina Luau, the best luau on Maui, and it was excellent as well.

The next 5 days were spent in Kauai, which is definitely a lot more beautiful and untouched than Maui. We went on a ton of hikes, hit the N'apali coast, hit the beaches on the north and had a great time there as well. Also, the PGA Grand Slam was going on in Poipu at the time, so there was some extra excitement in the air!

Our last few days were spent back in Maui, and we stayed on the north shore in Paia - a cool, laid-back hippie/surfer town with completely the opposite vibe of the touristy Kihei! ;) We went to the windsurfer's beach and saw some crazy surfers take on 20-30 foot waves, and also did the drive out to Hana which was great fun.

Well, I know I'm forgetting lots, but that should do it for now. Let's just say we had an amazing time! :)

Oh, and when I sort them out and set up an online album, I will post pictures as well.

Anyway, it will be nice to converse with all of you again in the Forums and I'm looking forward to seeing what goodies come our way from Apple as Christmas and MWSF approach!
