I'm not liking my new macbook air

The M1 MacBook Air is exactly what many were looking for. A portable powerhouse that is really efficient and doesn't cost a fortune. It blows away anything around its price point. I paid $1079 with a student discount for a 16GB of RAM base M1 MacBook Air...what else for less than $1500 is a better bang for buck? It's incredible fast, efficient, portable, well built, and priced well. I'm confused on why you're ranting when you knew ahead of time what the M1 Air was about.
I thought it didn't have a fan...?

In my opinion, the M1 MBA is far from being garbage. I also wouldn't make a point to complain about bezels, if I wanted my post to be taken serious as to the M1 lacking in ability to rightfully perform tasks. Your OP has failed to post anything in that regard that is of any real meaning and depth.

Return it and you won't have to complain anymore.

I also ordered a gold m1 air for my wife today.

The silver m1 air was delivered the same day. Via uber eats lol. The gold one will take 3 or 4 days it says. Wonder why so long?

You guys are such fanboys. Lol. I had this air for 3 days. I've been reading here how great it is. It's better than the 16. Etc... it can replace your desktop.

It's faster than the 16" in some ways. "Better" is subjective. Obviously its not better if you want a dGPU or a 16" screen. It can replace your desktop if you want it to. Again, subjective. Does it not do it better than previous models?

I had an old air 2015 as well. I liked that one. But it was not touted by every fanboy to be this messiah laptop.

Every fanboy, every regular fan, and every tech reviewer.

The battery did last longer than 8 hours just with light use. So that is very good. It serves It's job.

So that makes it just okay? Most reasonable people see that as amazing because its exactly what they've been waiting for for years. Is there a single laptop that is a messiah is your words? They're just computers at the end of the day.

You must be trolling.

I'm not trolling. I read all this hype on the m1 air. And it's garbage. Screen is dim. Design. It's the exact same design as a old macbook air.

Battery life fits my specific use. So it's fine. But otherwise it's garbage. They can fit a 14.5 inch screen on this laptop.

If i can't come on here and comment on this computer what's the point of this place?

A bad workman blames his tool….

I don’t like using my MacBook Air compared to my much older Mac Mini desktop setup, but I got the Air for a reason. It works fine doing what I got it for, so no complaints.
What is he supposed to be bad at exactly? He's complaining about screen brightness and the design... How does that make him a bad workman?

Do you even understand the point of that saying?

Have to ask... do you know how to adjust screen brightness and/or background picture in system preferences? We just bought 6 of them and the screens are great. If you really have a problem take it to the Apple store and have them check it out.
There is a couple little buttons on top with pictures of the sun on them. I press that. The one on the right.

Compared to my 7.1 mac pro. My 16 /5600m, my m1 mini connected to lg5k the 13inch m1 air is just meh.... the screen is terrible. Is it not bright enough? What's with the large bezel? New design please.

I needed a laptop that can handle being on battery for a 10 hour shoot. For email etc... so I don't have to be tied to a plug. But this thing is garbage.

Can't wait for the new 2022 air.
My mom went from a 2010 Core 2 Duo 13” MBP to a M1 MBA. She also loves the garbage screen and battery life.

I like it as well compared to my current 2014 13” MBP. Just waiting for the MBP redesign.

Compared to old computers yes it is great.

I tend to agree with the OP in some ways [when I look at the MBA competition] - however the computer is a low end consumer device at a cheap price so I would be lowering my expectations to meet what I paid for.

The 2022 refresh will most likely be an awesome computer for a lot of people [not me though].

Yes, I do understand…..

A good workman chooses tools to suit the job.

If the tool available is less than suitable, a good workman will work within it’s limitations.

Okay let’s have the discussion. One of three things happened here:

1. OP bought a computer knowing exactly what it was, same screen, big bezels and all, because that information is very much available prior to purchasing, but is complaining about it anyways, presumably for attention because why else would someone embarrass themselves like that?

2. OP lives in a bunker with no access to the outside world and has never seen any version of the MacBook Air but somehow purchased one blindly, and is now disappointed with it.

3. OP doesn’t own a MacBook Air at all, and is just a troll.
Seems a fair summation.

I didn't know it was the exact same design as the old air. I ordered it via apple.com. never saw it. My 16 has screen to the edge just about.

You’re right…. You can come on here to comment on it, but how did you expect this community to respond? You bought a Mac that you did not research, complained about it and are refusing to return it (And bought another??). I guarantee if you had asked, for example, if the MacBook Pro screen is better, then this community would have responded in a much more welcoming way.

See fanboys all up in arms. Isn't this m1 air the Pinacle of mobile computing?
Literally nobody here is defending the MacBook Air or Apple. We’re pointing out how nonsensical your posts are because you supposedly bought a computer you think sucks, which makes no sense. You’re just dying to use the word fanboy, which is what makes it so clear that you’re trolling. It’s the same pattern as people who post “innocent questions” so they can say “look how T R I G G E R E D you all are.” It’s a formula and it’s really played out.

We’re dragging you, not defending Apple for recycling a tired design. Everyone knows Apple needs to update the mac notebooks design. We just think you’re post is a bunch of bull 💩.

This is what I mean. The 16 has thinner bezels than the 13 m1 air. And it's a larger screen. Also the m1 is slower than my 16 even though the reviews I read said the air was faster than the 16.
Marginally smaller, not that big a deal unless you put them side by side. Look up the bezels on a mid 2014 MacBook Air and look at those bezels. I'm typing on that Mac right now and those bezels don't bug me at all (probably cause I looked at the device before I bought it). If you're not happy with the design return it and wait till the end of the year for the new pro or 2022 for the air. Do your research before you buy
Um.. I am not examining it pixel by pixel. I just clicked buy and it showed up 2 hours later.
Thats your own fault for not looking at the pictures or browsing the product page before purchasing it. You basically bought it sight unseen and then are complaining that its not what you wanted.

It was the lightest laptop that can last 8 hours on battery. So I had no choice. I'm just giving a review. It's garbage.
