I'm pretty sure there will be no pictures as the OP has gone silent since the first post. Seems like this is just a troll thread.
People are dropping laptops through their own carelessness and moaning about the resultant damage. The variables here are endless - angle, speed, surface etc.
That's a big one for me. Magsafe has saved my MBP a number of times and its omission in the 2016 is really disappointing... and the lack of magsafe.
There's actually a third party adaptor that makes a magsafe type connection. I will have to buy one when I upgrade. That's a big one for me. Magsafe has saved my MBP a number of times and its omission in the 2016 is really disappointing.
Have my Macbook pro since 2011 and no dent/scratch. It was never dropped too.
Over the past almost two years of owning my 2015 15" MBP, mine has fallen off the edge of my bed on to the carpeted floor about three times while I was asleep. No damage to the MBP happened on any of those times although it was loud and fell against the wall. All three times, it fell on the corded end. It's a tank and to this day, I still fall asleep with the thing next to my pillow. This is the $2500 16GB 5126GB model.
My 2012 rMBP is in pristine condition as well, and so far has never been droppedHave my Macbook pro since 2011 and no dent/scratch. It was never dropped too.
I know and that's a possible solution to one of the short comings to the new MBP.There's actually a third party adaptor that makes a magsafe type connection. I will have to buy one when I upgrade.
Yes an iMacA MBP on your pillow means there is something missing from your life, but many of us can sympathise.
Just a heads up since your new, you should be receiving a message that 1 word posts are not allowed on the forum. Your not contributing much to your own thread.Amazing
The MBPs can bend, and dent, but it seems the internals are fairly well protected.I guess they are relatively durable, as much as competing laptops
Agreed, we have HP laptops that seem to take a beating, Lenovo also makes their thinkpads extremely durable, though I do like the look of the MBP over thoseOf course they are nothing compared to the business like ones which are tough as nails

That's the other side of the coin regarding those adapters. I'm aware of their existence but I've also heard some "chatter" that holds them in some negative light. Since I don't own a 2016 MBP, I've not really dug into that any deeper then noticing the negativity on those adapters. And the current available alternatives are just awful. Rather be without them...

Its a good thing to possibly have them for the 2016 model, but only if they work as intended.
I used to love MacBooks/PowerBooks. They were tanks. The 1Ghz TiPB was a freaking TANK! Holy crap how many times that thing got dropped and kept ticking (not to mention being the fastest laptop for years). You didn't need magsafe (which is another failed tech based on how long those thing last).
What are you talking about? The Titanium Powerbooks had garbage build quality. I worked at an Apple store as a genius in college and I saw hundreds if not thousands of them brought in for all sorts of issues, from the poorly designed display hinges that broke all the time to warped body panels, bad Wifi, cracked frames (the frame around the keyboard deck was plastic and fragile), scratched paint (especially around the keyboard deck plastic frame where it would show), broken port cover doors, etc. I personally had three and I baby my machines but they only looked good coming out of the box.
Don't get me wrong, it's arguably the most innovative and important notebook Apple has ever made and informed the design of every Mac after it, but the initial aluminum powerbooks that came after it were better built in every way and were dramatically more durable. The Unibody computers (all the way up to today) are exponentially better built than even those. It's not even close.
Shame the OP didn't come back to fight back all of these comments. It was amusing in a internet-is-full-of-mean-people sort of way. It's odd that so many here don't like new things. It's counterintuitive that techie people feel this way.Obviously you don't get it. Old = better, new = garbage. Or at least, that's what the OP thinks I guess. I actually agree with you.
I think the lack of input from the OP in this thread confirms that he's not interested in discussion. It was probably just a pointless rant. Shame since a lot of things have been posted already and I was actually interested in his arguments.
P.S. I did dropp my 2015 MBP from a bed once, its about 40cm. The laptop has no visual damage at all. The wooden floor has a massive dent :/
The lesson I took away? Don't leave the laptop out if I'm not using it. Any damage is my own damn fault.
