The funny thing this is an exact repeat of the iPad 2 and probably 1. Either you enjoy what Apple bestows upon you or move along. ;)

I see alot of people say thers no problems with their ipads they did a poll and it was like 87 percent

I'm on my second one I'm just going to return it and get it next month or so.. Sticking with my iPad 2 for a bit longer till the issues get fixed..got heat issues/yellow/dead pixel...

At you going to exchange a wife or girlfriend every month if it has a heavy bleed?

My iPad 2 had light bleak but it never really bothered me. Still a gorgeous device. My iPad 3 is flawless, well without it making my coffee.

Think about it. That was 87 percent of people in Macrumors, which attracts most of the problem children. They sold 3 million in 3 days. Some were bound to have problems. But is is the minority.

here are the pics of my ipad backlight bleeding

What I've seen regarding backlight bleeding is that the only examples of where it is noticeable are of completely black photos. Just seems kind of pointless to let it bother people because who uses an iPad to look at a completely black image? That is just my opinion and people can do whatever they want.

Thoses images don't look that bad to me.

I'm on my second...

Today, I went to the Apple Store @ Walden Galleria in Buffalo. My first iPad came in with a dead pixel, so I figured I would get it replaced. Mind you, I had no backlighting bleed issues or yellowing as many have mentioned.

I walk in the store and I am treated kindly by many of the associates. The Genius Bar folks were friendly and kind, understanding my situation. The first iPad they bring out had a fold or crease underneath the glass in the screen part itself. This would not do. After being apologetic, the second one had a floating particle under the glass. The associate was understanding and sympathetic.

Finally, the third one that I tried in the store was good to go. To me it seems like the QC guys are out to lunch on this one. The employees were great and accommodating, but I (nor they) should be quality control beta testers. I can understand how trying this would be on customers and Apple employees. Long day and long story short, I have found an iPad that is working well for me.

Why blame the guy for wanting a perfect panel.Maybe if Apple production and inspection were a little more anal this stuff would not be happening

Very few things in this universe are "perfect," since the word represents a materialistic perception rather than an empirical fact.

If a flaw interferes with the operation of a product (which of course severe light bleed can do) I agree with those saying take it back. However when you start out with the admission that you are "anal about such things" you inherently create the question as to whether or not this is truly a noticeable flaw in the product or perceptual flaw in the OP's mind. And the more anal you are, the more difficult it will be to find the "perfect" iPad, which in turn means you'll never truly be able to simply enjoy the device.

If that is the case here (which it may not be), I think the OP needs to attempt to address the issue of being anal just for the sake of his own sanity. Life's too short to give significant parts of it away to such generally trivial things.

Anyone on this threadhave the light bleeding or any defects? If so are you happy with them

i exchanged mine today (it had horrible uneven tint) and the one i got in its place does have some light bleeding. and it's fine. i am definitely happy with it.

You guys are right I should stop being anal. But isn't the light bleeding a defect? I see a lot of people saying that their iPads has no bleeding what so ever. I just spend good money on this and want it perfect. The bleed on my screen isn't that bad not that noticeable, but now that I know it's there it kinda upsets me. Are these iPads suppose to have this bleed?

LCD tvs all have light bleed.

I don't know if you guys know or not but apple is really being kind with replacing your devices. They don't have to. If it is within the tolerances for their product they could tell you that you can't exchange it. Dead pixels and such. They have a certain percent that needs to be bad before they say it's a defect. But they just swap it out for the customer. But you watch, if customers keep swapping out equipment that don't have legitimate defects they WILL start getting more strict with it

All LCDs have light bleed. It's an inherent problem with the technology. In my experience, the bleeding on the new iPad is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced compared to my first generation iPad and iPad 2, both of which were absolutely god awful. So, if there's a little, just chalk it up to the technology. If it's really bad, exchange it.

yes, you need to replace it. no way am i going to look at a completely black screen unless it is perfect.

Why are people bashing the OP? Is it a horrible thing that he wants a perfect product that he paid hundreds of dollars for? I say don't settle until u are satisfied. I went through four iPads last gen until I got what I think was worth what I paid.

thanks guys yes i paid good money why settle for something im not happy with i totally agree

For every person that tells you this is no big deal, there is going to be someone else who feeds your compulsion to return it. Just take it in and get it switched. Honestly, I think you will regret getting caught up in the return cycle. I'd be interested to hear how this goes and if you're happy with your next unit.

Let me get this straight:

The forum is full of threads about iPad "issues" that you won't notice during normal usage, so you need to do very weird things that nobody ever does with their iPad (sit in an dark room looking at a black screen with brightness set to maximum, or stare at white rectangles to find dead pixels) in order to find them.

Are these really issues? By what authority? Are there any panel engineers here that could confirm if these are actual issues?

This reminds me to the whole "did I get a soft copy of my lens?" BS that you see all over photography forums.
