I was skeptical but now I'm extremely impressed. My last charge I got 10 hours of usage (email, surfing, texting, streaming radio) and 21 hours of standby and I was still at 5%.

My 5S seems very good on battery life. Been constantly playing with it and still have no issues getting 24hrs out of it easy.

One issue I do have is the Usage data is not being populated. Also don't like the idea of having to turn off some of the best features of the phone. What's the point...

Was at the Apple store Thursday for another issue though and there were a few people that had brought in their 5S & 5C phone due to battery issues. At least one was replaced after the genius tested it. My suggestion to the OP would be take it in and let them test the battery. It does sound like yours is significantly below average.

I sure am! :D

Yesterday I got 8 hours of screen on usage with 22 hours standby

Tips:
- turn off wifi/bluetooth when not using them
- turn off LTE if you don't live in an LTE area
- turn off parallax effect under "reduce motion"
- turn off background app refresh
- turn on auto brightness
- don't allow so many apps to use location services
- quit playing with it non-stop! ;)

Great apple fan here BUT ....... It's just me or the need for switching off almost all of the new features of iOS 7 just to keep battery life decent is sad ???

I'm not satisfied with battery life of my iPhone 5 since iOS 7 installation, and I'm in love with this o.s.

I had to turn off:
Siri
Background app refresh
Most of location services
Dynamic wallpapers
iTunes automatic updates

Just to have the phone last all the work day.
I'm not very happy ....

One thing that has really helped me is letting the phone die out and then doing a complete charge, also some people feel after several charges the bat life improves? After letting the phone die and charging full for this morning I'm sitting at 65% after a full day if moderate use

Things like that that make me question my iPhone's battery! I'm sitting here at 77% with 57 minutes usage and an 1:11 mins of standby.

This, I can't stress this enough. For 3 whole charges I recommend doing this. I actually reccomend it always.

Kill it all the way, charge it all the way
Rinse
Repeat

Really? Mine lased 7 hours last night on LTE at a concert where I constantly took video and pictures and texted. Better than my 5 at least

I get the point people are making but some of you are just being ridiculous also.
This morning my iPhone dropped 18% in 35 minutes, sending 5 texts. That is not the battery life I was expecting from an iPhone. I'm connected to wifi, and I have 3 bars.

I'm certain your 5s has something wrong with the battery. Have you tried calibrating it? If the battery life is still that horrible, you should take it back to your nearest Apple store... Since there is nothing too power-sipping about sending 5 texts and being connected to wifi. My 5s gives me about 1 day and 9 hours before it needs a charge. I turn on cellular data and wifi all day and do rather heavy texting.

Not sure what's happening there.. Do you have a decent signal throughout the day? A bad signal is one of the worst culprits for battery drain.

I use a static wallpaper, I've turned on 'reduce motion' and I turn off WiFi/Bluetooth when I don't need it. I've turned off 'background app refresh' (this NAILs the battery), but I've only turned off location services for one or two apps. I've kept automatic updates on but only over WiFi, as I only have a 1GB data plan.

I have a year old i5 and battery life is great. 50-60% ish remaining when I leave work usually.

Hmm yes I think so to. Calibrated for the first 3 charges or so. But pretty much was easy to do so as it always drained so quickly. Right now I'm sitting on 60% with 2 hours of usage... Definetly going to be taking it to apple I think then :/ How annoying the phone is perfect apart from that!

and people give Android users flack for turning off features to get better battery life.

It's generally been accepted that some iPhone 5S's are having battery issues, but we're still not sure whether it's a hardware problem

I travel a lot, so signal can be very different.
But my point is that my 7 months old iPhone 5 was clearly better with iOS 6, as far as battery life is concerned ...

iOS 7's feature set of course uses more battery, so it's understandable. iPhone 5s makes up for some of it with the M7 coprocessor.

I agree btw. Battery life is definitely worse than in iOS 6, even though I now disable Bluetooth when I'm not using it. I left it on all the time with iOS 6.

My 2-1/2 year old iPhone 4 battery smokes my 5S. I charge my phone all night, every night on the nightstand and my 4 would last until 9 or 10 pm everyday unless I had an unusual amount of calls that day. This includes some texting and emailing using wifi.

My 5S on the other hand, has been off the charger for approximately 1:15 this morning and is down to 71%...

I love the phone but agree, I should not have to turn off a bunch of features to get the same battery life of my 2-1/2 year old phone. Just saying...
