I'm so pissed about white

I'm fine with not preordering white today.
I'm even fine with not getting it on the 24th.
But I'm NOT fine sitting here with NO info about the delay and any estimates!
APPLE knew way before last night that there won't be white ones for a while.
Now all I want is precise info about what is going on and when to expect what.

Hey, just be glad you are not a pelican who trolls the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. Just some perspective.
Not the end of the world at least not mine! I can wait a little bit. I think they will fix it soon. In the meantime lots of people that were going to get white are now going to get black. So when I do get my phone it will set it apart. and might even have a higher resale, who knows. Apple didn't wreck my life! bummed yes so what!

EXACTLY. To not release a statement to their customers is a pretty big F U to us and goes to show the culture of Apple nowadays.
I now have to wait for the white to come out because my wife wants the white so I wont get mine until we can get both.
i am in exactly the same boat. However, I may have found a way out. We have a neighbor who is upgrading and we thought about buying their 3g 8GB for a reasonable price and then we could sell it when the white one comes out. Even if we took a $30-40 hit that would be fine.
But here is the problem, we are not AT&T subscribers. So when we activate the 3G won't that ruin her ability to upgrade to the white when it comes out? Is there a way to get a new number without a 2 year contract?
Our plan was to start a new Family Plan with two lines. So maybe she could open an individual line and then cancel it. But ATT only allows 14 days or something right?
This is a mess.
If they gave a reason for why there would be no white iphone 4 I wouldn't have a problem, but to give NO reason about why there will not be a white iphone available for pre-order is just ridiculous... And by saying "later in summer" is just like what they did with MMS.. and did that come out "later in summer"? Nope, Don't think so

I was thinking of doing the same. My mom is eligible for an upgrade, but may be too late to get one on the 24th since she hasn't ordered yet. I don't know how it would work, but maybe I can transfer mine to her somehow, fulfilling her upgrade and effectively putting myself back in the eligibility for an upgrade position. Just thinking...

I've talked to the store twice since Pre_ordering the white, and both times i've been assured that I will have one. They are getting in a small amount of white ones and stopped taking white pre-orders pretty early. But they seem to know how many they're getting.
From what I've gathered, I'd guess that they're not so much OBLIGATED as they are OBLIVIOUS. A classic case of misinformed sales staff.
But hey, you'll have the last laugh if you're holding a white 4 on the 24th! And I seriously hope you are because that would mean the rest aren't far behind.
To be honest, this time, I think it's more UNinformed instead of misinformed. Apple's phenomenal lack of communication has not only pissed off customers, but even Apple's own staff has no idea what they're doing.
I don't get all the complaining on "lack of communication" going on... I think it was plenty clear communication when they didn't have it available, and ATT said it would be available in July. When ATT said this, Apple said it through ATT, because they got the information from somewhere.
Apple silently upgrades entire lines of computers, and people never complain about that. It is not that big of a deal, and it would be no different if Apple put out a press release talking about it.
Apple doesn't like the image of a mistake... Earlier, I went in and waited in line, while they brought people inside 1 by 1 to tell them they couldn't order because the system was down. I then went to AT&T and ordered. This is something I think that is anger-worthy, as they didn't just announce to a whole line of people that it was down, they brought us in one by one. The lack of an announcement on something that doesn't need one is not.
