I'm so pissed about white

Apple silently upgrades entire lines of computers, and people never complain about that. It is not that big of a deal, and it would be no different if Apple put out a press release talking about it.

Apple doesn't like the image of a mistake... Earlier, I went in and waited in line, while they brought people inside 1 by 1 to tell them they couldn't order because the system was down. I then went to AT&T and ordered. This is something I think that is anger-worthy, as they didn't just announce to a whole line of people that it was down, they brought us in one by one. The lack of an announcement on something that doesn't need one is not.

I think you miss the point. At the 1 hour 37 minute mark of the WWDC keynote, Jobs stated that both Black and White would be available on June 24th, with preorders beginning on June 15th. Apple did not live up to that statement. And to top that off, it took ModmyI to leak an unconfirmed ATT memo about it roughly an hour before the preorder (nothing from Apple), then when the preorders begin, a small blurb on the ordering page about there being no White phone.

This really baited a lot of people in who were looking for the white phone, and now have to wait until (and probably after) general availability of the phones at the stores to get it. All of this, without any explanation from Apple. That could lead people to vote with their money and take it elsewhere. Public Relations works both ways; it can help or hurt. In this case, the longer Apple remains quiet, the longer it will hurt.

Seriously..This is frikkin ridiculous..They had better release them on launch day or allow us to preorder them in a couple days. I know it is just a frikkin color and it's the same thing but now all the blacks are backordered because of the crazed fanatics who ordered like 5 each...There better be some frikkin answers in the form of an official Apple statement before launch day..
 
Then there are people like me who were 60/40 in favor of the white phone, but were unwilling to wait until August for a new phone. If they announce a white release for sometime in first two weeks of July, and they announce it after it's too late for me to change my preorder, I'm gonna be pretty disappointed.

Sure it's ultimately my impatience at fault, but that impatience was brought upon by Apples incompetence and subsequent lack of basic information. I'm not gonna freak out and ask for a refund or discount, but I'm going to remember it next time I buy a phone.

With competitors nipping at it's heels, Apple shouldn't be alienating people with such amatuer PR.

Well, Best Buy seems to be making it official that they have no clue.

No. We have stopped taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4 16GB White (SKU: 1039203) and iPhone 4 32GB White (SKU: 1049294). We stopped taking pre-orders for the white iPhone 4 after Apple stopped taking pre-orders to prevent customer disappointment if inventory is not available.

What if I already pre-ordered a white iPhone 4 at Best Buy®?
If you have already pre-ordered either the iPhone 4 16GB White (SKU: 1039203) or iPhone 4 32GB White (SKU: 1049294), then your pre-order is still valid. You will receive your phone once the store receives the product from Apple. This may or may not be on launch day, June 24th, 2010.

Will Best Buy® receive inventory of the white iPhone 4 on launch day, June 24th, 2010?
This is not guaranteed and is completely dependent on when the product is received from Apple. While we have ordered all versions of the iPhone 4 from Apple, we can only sell what we are provided with.

Essentially, all existing pre-orders for the white versions will still be fulfilled whenever the store receives the inventory from Apple. We do not know when that will be exactly.

Then they did not get that info from Apple, they pulled it out of thin air. It is very well established that the people at AT&T stores very rarely have correct updated information.

So we may not get the white phone until October for all we know, because Apple will not say anything.

I am fine with waiting for the phone, I just would like an idea how long I will have to wait.

So at first I had a hard time deciding on the black or white and ultimately wanted the white one. Due to the ****ing unavailability of the white iPhone, I gave into ordering a black. Then thought to myself "why would I not wait 2 weeks maybe to get a phone i actually want instead of being stuck with a second choice for 2 years." So I canceled my pre-order and will be waiting for white...

AND since more people probably did what I did, those of us who wait for the White one will be that much cooler! :cool:

oh and i love how the bumpers in the apple store are shown on white iphones. THANKS GUYS :D

That's exactly how I feel. I don't feel the need to get a new phone every year. I've been using my 2G since about 2 months after the original launch, and although I may have thought about upgrading when the 3G and 3Gs came out, I figured I had about another year left in my old phone. Waiting another few months for the one I really want (especially if I'm going to be spending the money for it) isn't the end of the world. It also means that when we finally do get our white phones the activation nightmare that's going to be June 24th should have died down, making activation a breeze.

This coming from someone who has been bashing Microsoft for 20+ years. I never thought I'd see the day that Microsoft treated it's customers better than Apple. Surprise, that day is today.
