read the thread topic, current imacs have ivory bridge.
I was referring to the integrated graphics part of your post: All current iMacs already come with Intel's integrated graphics since that's part of the chip, which won't change with Haswell.

Only the higher-end models come with a dedicated graphics chip from Nvidia (or AMD/ATI in the past). Lower-end Macs all come with Intel integrated graphics which is part of the Core i5/i7 chip.

The event was nice but are partly disappointed as I was expecting some news on the computer side. At this point it is appropriate to buy the 'imac or better to wait anyway?

i was thinking like you but bought the 27" iMac 2 weks back, no regrets ;)
the haswell update would be so minor that i just toke the plunge, more then the haswell update just pray ur lucky to get the faster hdd in ur 27" iMac, there is a thread regarding that over here. its also mentioned in the official imac review on this site where a lower spec 27" imac beat the faster processor one just cause of a diff hdd brand..

I think that I'll buy the actual imac. This site says that is not a good idea to buy it...but I think...when will the new imac be released?

Whilst Apple launches the interesting 5s and the stupid 5c, you'll have to update until October to update your Mac.
Great for those who want a computer for college.

You think that Apple will release the new iMac in October?

At this point I think if they were to release the new mac with the processor haswell did. So I guess it will take next year. The only hope is the release of Maverick ... what do you think?

Next year broadwell will be out so its too late for haswell then. That's why I think this year

well if you can wait then wait for broadwell or the processor after that :D

I know that you're joking, but

I can wait for a 128 bit's :D intel!!! :)

excellent keep waiting :D

Since current processors already have 128-bit and 256-bit instructions and datapaths, I'll assume that you're 'waiting' for 128-bit virtual addresses.

Did you know that a system that filled the 64-bit address space with energy-efficient DDR3 RAM would need about 32 billion watts of power just for the memory? That's about 143 million amps at 240 volts, or the peak usage for the entire state of California on a typical summer day.

I think that 64-bit addressing won't be a hindrance for a long, long time. ;)

Can you explain me what are you thinking? Sorry but i cannot understand the meaning of your post!

Thanks!!! :)

New Imac release expected?

I am new here, so if this post is in the wrong section I apologize for that. My question is this:

Is there a new Imac release expected anytime soon? If the new model going the be significantly better in performance? (i don't care about the design personally)

The buyersguide says you should NOT buy an Imac now, but it doesn't say when the new Imac is to be expected or how the new haswell thing (i guess they mean a processor) is going to change the performance.

Maybe it's time to finally replace the 2009 iMac. Would love the thin profile of the current iMac since I never use superdrive. Plus the screen looks incredible on the new iMac's.

Screen looks incredible on the new iMac’s what? You finished mid sentence.:D

Without quoting, nobody has ANY idea what you are talking about.

lets not go off topic, bottom line for people who ca wait for the new imac with haswell then wait simple.

There's also the obvious fact that if Mavericks is "100% optimized for Haswell" it won't install or run on Ivy Bridge, Sandy Bridge, or any other processor.

yes, i'm sure that apple is going to make Mavericks "haswell only" especially considering the only haswell macs are the new macbook airs. They will obviously abandon all other computers that they make until they are updated.

Not to mention the beta which is working on ivy, sandy, and many other processors. I guess by release they will just go haswell only so that the 5% of mac users with a haswell air can enjoy the new OS!!
