Imac mid 2010 21.5 Lines on screen

    Hi! Is anyone knowledgeable with this problem on an iMac screen?

    Please help before i decide to go an fix it if it's possible.

    It certainly looks like a classic video card failing. If it works fine a little while and then does that, it's probably overheating because the heatsink+paste is failing. If it's all the time, could also mean the card is basically dead.

    It is possible to replace the card if you can still get one and opening up and fixing those iMacs is a test of patience. If you took apart the machine and saw the card you could probably see if the heatsink paste is crumbling or missing.

    Thanks Tyche! When u say it works fine, it means what? For me it's always like that so i though it was just the screen. So i switched one good screen to the defectiv iMac and it was good on the defectiv iMac. When i put back the defectiv screen the lines come back. So for me it's the screen, what is your thinking on this?

    You mean you replaced the LCD panel? Well certainly sounds like the screen is bad and you figured it out. The 3 big reasons for these failures are: graphics card, screen panel, LCD inverter board.
