Finally, some black color apple accessories!! White gets too dirty over time. Especially for the traveling working man like me.

And here exactly is why this Mac is actually quite expensive. You can't upgrade RAM, SSD or graphic card later on without having to pay Apple for that.

AND.... what happens when Apple takes 5 years to release the new model for this Mac? OR when they suddenly decide that they'll stop making Final Cut Pro because it's no longer worth it and there is always iMovie?

Sorry for the rant. I'm just not liking how Apple is doing things lately.

I totally agree. If this Mac does not have user-upgradable RAM, then Apple you can forget it. Apple rips you off big-time for RAM. You really have to be a moron to buy it without user-upgradable RAM. Will they do the same for the Mac Pro in 2018? Apple are hopeless for "pros" and have been for the last 8 plus years. No laptop larger than the toy 15". No screen larger than 27". This iMac Pro should have been 30" with a 34" model as well. I don't have much faith in Apple in making a "pro" product ever again. You might as well buy a pc and make it a hackintosh instead. Apple is now a phone company first, computing products are an inconvenience to them. My next computer might be a pc, sadly. And I thought I would never say that after 25 years of using macs.

A pro machine perhaps?;) Pro PC's typically have that upgrade-ability as a feature. Maybe this should be called the iMac Prosumer. That seems to be the target market for this machine.

Yep, and I thnk anything more would cannibalise the upcoming Mac Pro market even more.

Are pro PC all-in-one's upgradeable (assuming they are a thing)?

Great to,see Apple taking professionals serious again. Hope this investment continues to MacOS which is lagging and a lot of my pro friends complain about the bugs that break their workflow or lack of innovation vs Windows 10.

Only bummer in this setup is the crappy keyboard. Why do you need cheap scissor mechanism ona desktop keyboard? This is for pros, and pros care about key travel, not meaningless thinness.

The lack of any upgradeability is pretty frustrating. I'm probably not the only person out there who'd consider buying the low-end model and then upgrade the RAM and SSD later. I can understand not making the processor upgradeable, but not being able to add RAM or upgrade to a larger SSD? Ridiculous.

It's also frustrating that the new iPhones have Bluetooth 5.0, whereas the new iMac Pro still appears to be stuck at Bluetooth 4.2. While Apple has deliberately crippled the Bluetooth on their iOS devices by excluding AptX compatibility, their Macs have included AptX. It would have been sweet it the new iMac Pro included both Bluetooth 5.0 and support for the new AptX HD codec. But I guess that ain't gonna happen.

In fairness, a lot of these are being purchased by professionals/organizations that can cover the purchase cost in one single job.

Exactly. And I just thought of something else along those lines.

Wanna know what companies spend the most on? Talent.

Let's say the company drops a $5,000 iMac Pro on Jim's desk. And he's to use it for the next three years... which would work out to $1,667 per year.

But Jim's salary is $50,000 a year... which would be $150,000 for those three years.

So the company is paying A LOT more for Jim himself rather than the computer he's using. :)

Suddenly... equipment cost doesn't sound so bad!

$5000 for a computer that you can't choose the monitor or certain parts for is pretty dismal.

Plus, when you decide to replace it (or it breaks), there goes the monitor as well.

nobody is expecting upgradability from an iMac, those are for people who are happy with the package they order ... upgradability, thats what the macPro is for .... ahem, hold on, ahe at least it looks pretty ... next gen macPro maybe, soon I guess (hope),

I'd like a monitor with an upgradeable computer . . . the headless iMac!
