My 2021 iMac which is still under warranty (AppleCare+) just stopped working. When I turned it on, the screen stayed black and had vertical lines.

I took it to Apple on January 24th to be repaired. It's now February 12th and zero update. I called Apple and was told they are waiting on a lcd panel and there are none available at the moment. They have no idea when a panel will be available. Which leaves me without my iMac indefinitely.

At what point do I personally go to my local Apple Store that I took my iMac to be repaired and demand a replacement?
Companies have the OEM LCD Screen in stock - so I have no idea what game Apple is playing.

They're playing the same game they've played since the guys at Best Buy and Circuit City first invented it. It is called "Techie Teens". The rules of the game are pretty simple:
  1. Build a "tech support" desk inside a retail store. Give it a cool name like "Geek Squad" or "Genius Bar."
  2. Hire a bunch of teens and twenty-somethings fresh out of high school to do your "tech support". Make sure you pay just a bit above minimum wage so that they feel smarter than they really are.
  3. Write up some standard scripts and SOWs for your "techs" to follow.
  4. Herd your cattle customers toward the Geek Bar whenever they have a problem.
  5. Profit.

That has not been my experience with the genius bar at all.
  1. The Genius Bar came into being in 2001, BB bought the geek squad in 2002. Circuit City did theirs in 2006, so I don't think Apple was copying anyone.
  2. I've been to a fair number of Apple Stores and not a single one had teens working as Geniuses, but even if they did, what's wrong with teenagers? Apple also pays their geniuses higher then the sales reps. A quick google shows an average salary of 77,000, so that's quite a bit higher then minimum wage
  3. Standard business practice for support. I work in support and this is always a good idea. Why do you think its not? Why reinvent the wheel when they can have a number of KB Articles, and SOWs to follow and make quick effective repairs and resolutions to issues.
  4. Where else should Apple Store reps direct customers who are in need of a solution or repair?
  5. Why else are companies in business:? Is making a profit so wrong?

I'm going to eventually get a Mac Mini and the upcoming Studio Display 2.

I will again, get AppleCare for this new iMac. I just like the all-in-one aspect of the iMac. It's a gorgeous computer. Just wish I could trust the longevity of it.
My goodness. What a whiner.I'm sure you impressed upon Apple how much more important you are than everybody else in line is. But...it's a five year old machine that they are still trying to fix.YOU are the unreasonable one.
