My DOA first order was in Louisville for around a day and a half.

I ordered my second attempt a full five days ago and Apple hasn’t even taken my money yet... 🙄

echeck - I hear you re: your earlier post, how your DOA iMac was like an inverse wow! I'm annoyed if my new iMac or apple product is not up and running 100% within 30 seconds. I don't know how I would even contemplate a DOA. That reminds me of building Windows machines, and wondering if such and such a component will be compatible.

I am pretty sure UPS lost my package. It's been in Louisville since around 1:00AM on the 29th. The delivery date is gone now and UPS said "they have no updates" and they need to investigate. Apple said last night it will be here today for sure. They are in "constant communication with their carriers," whatever that means. As of this morning we're still stuck in Kentucky.

Apple just now told me it's going to be delivered today. Yesterday it was going to be delivered yesterday. I understand it's 2020 and everything has gone to hell in a hand basket, but it would be great to get a straight answer from someone.

Mine hung out in Louisville for about 3 days before coming back to Newark for delivery the next day.

Thank you for that info. I did call UPS and thankfully the person who addressed the issue was really great. He checked everything and explained that the delay was due to customs. He said it cleared last night and the tracking should have updated, but didn't. He said it will be here tomorrow.

Just bought this 1.5 months ago, and the computer restarted because of an error. Looks like a kernel panic. I'm going to return it.

I hope you bought it somewhere that will allow you to return it. It’s past just about every return policy of any retailer I can think about.

I bought it from Apple. Technically, I ordered it 1.5 months, but received it a month ago. They let me return it. I'm just gonna exchange it out for a another new one. I guess it was just bad luck.

Sheesh...I've had a lot of Apple products over the years but the new iMac I got this week was the first DOA one and I seem to be reading about a plethora of new iMACs showing up dead.

I’ve never in the past two decades of owning ton of different Apple devices seen or even heard of someone getting a DOA product. I also find the number of reports here alarming. Then again, it’s a tiny fraction of the millions of units Apple sold. No way of knowing really how widespread is the issue.

Mine was not DOA but it has the worst quality control of any Apple product I've ever owned. I'm considering buying a backup Mac just to have on hand for when this one inevitably needs to go in for a two week repair. Which is ridiculous for any Apple product, let alone a top tier iMac. Between this, the Catalina bugs and Safari, really concerned about what's going on over there.

That’s not good. I have the 16” MBP and it has been great. It’s being sold though. That leaves me with an iPad Pro, which is fine, except I can’t do everything on it. Now I wonder if I should return the iPad Pro and get MBA or something.

I imagine (and hope!) the negative experiences are overrepresented on the forum and are outliers – and that when you get yours it will just be great, period, and you won't have to worry about it.

The things that are good about this iMac, are absolutely incredible. It is just blindingly fast, does not skip a beat, and the display is amazing. I briefly had the 2019 i9 and the 2020 i7 feels substantially snappier and smoother in every respect. It's a great machine.

There are a few things on mine which should have been caught by QC which is slightly concerning, but in the grand scheme of things, they'll probably be fine. None of it was enough to warrant a return. I'm just a little frustrated because I probably expect too much from Apple based on my previous positive experiences and I don't particularly like the possibility that something might go wrong, leaving me without a computer for an extended period of time. I don't think I'd be as concerned if the service options weren't limited and slowed down by the pandemic.

Ordered i7/32GB/1TB/5700XT on Sept 26. Just shipped today (Oct 1) from Ireland, with an estimated delivery of Oct 7 here in California.

This is turning into a complete cluster****. UPS said it will be here Wednesday. Then they said, Thursday. Thursday they said today — for sure. Now they said it’s not even in the country yet. That the scans are “paperwork.” Maybe it will be delivered by Wednesday next week.

Do they realize that it has to be signed? Someone has to plan to be here? Jesus.

That is absolutely insane, and frankly completely unacceptable. For tracking to say it’s in customs when it’s not even in the country yet is mind boggling.

My second order hasn’t been processed yet. At this point I’m expecting sometime in October 2023...

I don’t know what happened to Apple. Check this out... how does this even happen? Who’s running this company?

It’s totally insane. I get it. We’re dealing with a global pandemic. Just give me a straight answer, so I can plan accordingly. But yes, it’s now been in “cleared customs” status for well over a day. We’ll see when it actually shows up.

Order number three after one DOA unit and one UPS damaged unit.

1st ordered 2020-08-27, shipped 2020-09-01, delivered 2020-09-09: 14 days.

2nd ordered 2020-09-09, shipped 2020-09-15, delivered 2020-09-22: 14 days.

3rd ordered 2020-09-22…
…shipped 2020-09-25, delivered 2020-10-02: 11 days.

This unit arrived in great shape, our local UPS delivery driver was super apologetic about the last one and genuinely excited to show us the clean box; a good guy. Shipment watchers don't despair; this package jumped around Japan for three days and somehow made it faster than the ones that never touched the land of the rising sun.

This computer also works just fine so Apple is off the hook too.

That's is probably it for me folks. Good luck!

Well, I’m at day 17 with the iMac nowhere in sight. Ironically Apple activated AppleCare over a week ago. 😂

Got my iMac, shipped from China. Packaging was immaculate. VESA option is highly underrated IMO, looks amazing!
