Im in the UK. As you said, a First-come, first-serve system would be expected!

I'm in the UK too so ours will ship from Ireland.

I have been planning for a while to buy one but waited until the Apple event so I could see what the Mac Pro was going to be (spec/cost). Previously, I had tried the iMac in the configurator and it said 7-10 days but after the event it went up to 2-4 weeks and then 2 days later back to 7-10 days :S

Delivery on mine is estimated at 8-21st November  feels like a lifetime away!

Just received my RAM for it today too! :D

Ahh ok, I wondered if you were in the UK or Europe and that's why you had delays but as you say it's because they are shipping an updated machine.

Airport Express for free! Well that's a positive I suppose! Have they said when it will ship?

I'm a little worried as the HDD in my MBP is almost dead and for some reason, Time machine won't back up properly (since 10.8.5) :-(

I've done a manual backup of important docs, work files etc but just worried the whole thing will stop working before the iMac arrives!

They said it has a great chance to be ready to deliver before 14th oct... But who knows?
Yup... Free AirPort express was a sweet!

Good thing about MBP, if yours isn't a Retina, you can change to new HDD or SSD anytime!

Yeah, it's the very first UniBody MBP (late 2008). Not blazingly fast but it performs well for how hard I push it. It's already been upgraded to 8GB RAM (from 4GB as Apple released a silent firmware update which increased it's maximum supported RAM).

Once I have safely transferred everything important across to my new iMac, I plan on putting an SSD and new battery in the MBP and hopefully, the speed boost fro the SSD will keep it going for another couple of years!

I just had shipping confirmation for mine - looks like they overestimated!
Not arriving until the 31st.

Mine still days 2-4 weeks since this time last week. I built the same spec as a test and I got 3-5 days. Very strange. Waiting for a reply from Apple on this.

Mine was ordered last week and says 2-4 weeks

Apple reps don't have a clue

Ordered 8th of October and still waiting.

Ordered the 22nd and due to arrive 11/2. Fingers crossed. 27 inch i5 w/fusion drive and 780m

I would phone at this point or even re-order as the new shipping
dates are strangely faster then the expected queue position you're in.
Lots of people here ordered BTOs here later than you are getting them now.
Give them a call, nothing to lose. Hope you get it soon!

I ordered on the 25th of October (England). It was despatched yesterday and is currently making its way across the see from Dublin to England (I imagine they don't fly them over).

Thing is, I live about 30 miles from the west coast area of Blackpool/Liverpool, so I am not sure why the estimated delivery is saying Tuesday for delivery.

Could I expect to arrive sooner, maybe at the weekend?

I returned my base 21.5 inch iMac to get one with a 256GB SSD. Refund should show up mid-late week. Once it does, I am ordering right away. But, what shipping method will have fedex as the shipper? I am gone 7-9 hours on weekdays and I am not home to sign, nobody is. So how can I get fedex to be the shipper? Free or 2-3 bussiness days? And how long would it take if I ordered November 9 ish.
