Everyone realizes that we won't need LED indicators on our iPhones for incoming calls and messages anymore because the iWatch will do that for us, right?

What should be different about them? I don't get it. Thinner? Thicker? Radio-opaque etal? Do people truly care? It's a line--it's the most minimal level of detail that a necessary part can have.

Well, I think it looks significantly worse than the current look. I expect they decided to change it because since there's no glass on the back, it's stronger. I think it would look a lot better if the antennas were the same color as the back and blended in.

I couldn't care less, though, as I'll be slapping a case on the thing, as usual.

It’s hilarious to me that people think the Apple logo lighting up for aesthetic and/or notification purposes, would be a good idea. It would be an absolutely horrifically terrible idea. Apple would never do that, ever. The reason it lights up on a MacBook is because it actually looks good against the aluminum which isn’t colored, and because it is simply lit from the display being on. Apple would never have lit that if it took additional energy to do so. It would also look awful against the space gray and gold colors of an iPhone.

There would also be no way to do the same with an iPhone, you’d have to put an LED in there, and it would have to use additional energy. Also, the overwhelming majority of people, use cases, and granted a lot of them have a cutout so you can see the Apple logo, virtually none of them would be thin enough for you to see it light up at any kind of angle. It again doesn’t make sense because it can both vibrate or make a sound to notify you… Why in the hell would anyone need it to annoyingly light up as well? There’s a reason the LED notification is in accessibility (hint: it’s for the deaf/hearing impaired).

End of the day it’s just one of the worst ideas ever.

this is what I think too.. those ugly bars can’t be left as we see them .... even if they are needed , surely they can blend the colour with the iPhone’s colour

I believe that the "ugly" bars are there to stay. There's a lot more evidence that they're real than the opposite, in my humble opinion.

It's possible that they've used white bands in some of their test runs to make them easier to check for misalignment as they adjust their injection moulding process.

I doubt the thickness of the bands is an aesthetic decision as they get even larger inside of the shell, moulded inside of some kind of black insulator stuff which seems to be fused with the aluminum back. This black stuff is itself moulded inside cavities that hold the antenna bands on the sides.

This seems like a very complex process and I doubt it'll change much at this point. I also don't think that the interior of the Chinese iPhone 6 clones look like that.

Now here's a previously leaked version with coloured bands :

Even if the antenna breaks are real… assuming they are… why would they go with White plastic on a champagne colored phone??? You'd think they'd pick a not so obvious color???? Something seems not right about that. I hope anyway. :)

The cellular iPad air / mini (silver) also have ugly ass white plastic band at rear side, damaging the aesthetics of those devices big time..
if the final design of iPhone 6 comes like this,it's going to be the ugliest iPhone ever made (next to 5c) and I will never purchase it.

I posted this really late in the other thread dealing with these antenna breaks, and I doubt anyone saw it, so let me re-post here, as it fits just as well:

I just had a thought having looked at a friend's Xperia Z2 - what if those thick bands are part of a feature that makes the phone water proof?

Things that make you go, "Hmmmmmm...."

Just like how they got rid of the hideous half glass in the iPhone 5 everyone hated until it was announced, or the hideous lines on the side of the iPhone 4 that everyone screamed about until they announced it, or the disgusting plastic in the 3G that everyone screamed over until it's release.

It's not like people actually liked the glass inserts at the top and bottom after it was announced. This looks worse than all of those combined though. They could at least tint them to match the case. It's also odd to have those antenna lines so close, perhaps even touching, the cutout for the lens.

Meh. The 5c wasn't ugly. If you see them in person they look better than they do on the site. However the croc cases for the 5c were absolutely horrid.

I personally think they are going to use liquidmetal for those antennae gaps. I'm sure the white pieces are just temporary.

The glass antenna bars on my iPhone 5 are massive in comparison. Which looks better? It's a wash to me. My only opinion, unchanged for years but highly subjective: black looks better than white.

I think the white antenna lines look far worse than the solid glass inserts. I'm only halfway through my contract so if it looks like this I'll pass and hold out for a 6c or something.

All parts leaks have centered around the 4.7" iPhone because that's the only one that actually exists.

Agreed. With all the leaks, why haven't we seen a single part (shell/screen) for a 5.5". Either it's doubled down secrecy or it doesn't exist.

So what if they are there?

those white lines on the back are amazingly ugly.. i'll skip this phone if looks like this ****.

Being a guy who doesn't want his iPhone ruined when it hits the deck, I use a case.

I know that flies in the face of the awesome art-like appearance & cool factor, but if you've ever dropped one of these awesome phones & gotten so much as a scratch, or even worse, then a case is a must.

Why chance it?

You can use something like a Smart Case and still appreciate the iPhone in all its naked splendor. :D

Why don't they make the antenna iPad style? Regardless it won't be that ugly in the end.

Thanks for this post, exactly my thoughts. It is a new design and it looks Apple like.
And everyone who cries about those lines should read it, look at the back of your iPhone 5/5s, those glass plates are even more conspicuous.

I disagree. The 5/5S glass plates look great. Not even close to the hideous lines were seeing on the "rumored" 6 back plate. Anyone that says they look good, need glasses. They look absolutely hideous. They are not needed and can either be thinned out or blended to not be so damn obvious.

The iPhone 6 in it's rumored stated, looks like a toy/crap. At least the back does anyway and NO, it's NOT "Apple like". It's the exact opposite! I really can't believe they would do that to be honest.:(

Planned leaks?

No parts for the 5.5 inch yet? I wonder why ...

This would throw people off the scent so to speak. The 5.5" machine could be far more advanced. In fact I'm thinking a folding phone could happen because honestly who wants to carry a cell phone that long around in their pocket. Such a cell phone would be completely operable closed so one handed goodness remains.

If they let out to much info on the big boy the "One More Thing" reveal wouldn't be as exciting.

Every time I see that recessed area for the Apple logo, it's a different shape......
