Why don't they make the antenna iPad style? Regardless it won't be that ugly in the end.

I like that idea a lot more. Apple already does that on the cellular iPads, they do it for the iPod nano's Bluetooth reception, and they do it on the iPod touch for Wi-Fi reception. I think that'd look better than the really thick antenna lines that these parts are showing.

Obviously you have poor taste.

I disagree. The 5/5S glass plates look great. Not even close to the hideous lines were seeing on the "rumored" 6 back plate. Anyone that says they look good, need glasses. They look absolutely hideous. They are not needed and can either be thinned out or blended to not be so damn obvious.
They are fine and frankly 99% of the owners cover those lines with a case anyways.
The iPhone 6 in it's rumored stated, looks like a toy/crap. At least the back does anyway and NO, it's NOT "Apple like". It's the exact opposite! I really can't believe they would do that to be honest.:(

Apparently you are still at an age where you are familiar with toys. I look at that back and say thank god they have tried to breakup the boring designs of previous iPhone backs.

----------

i'm willing to bet it will not come out with those hideous bands. surly someone who was in charge of the design see's what we're seeing....right?

I don't know, what do you see? I see a beautiful solution to real engineering problems. If you don't like it maybe you can convince Apple to revert to the rubber ducky days of cell phones.

I don't buy an iPhone to cover it so I'm not in the 99%. Why spend all that money to cover your phone in a hunk of plastic that now makes it look like every other phone made?

I buy it because it's the best looking phone on the market, with the best interface (IMO).

You saying I have poor taste and think it looks like a toy, is nothing more than you defending something blindly. They don't need to "jazz up" the phone. If that's going to be the back, it's hideous. It's not a bold move, it's not a smart move, it's just plain stupid.

With all that said - it will still sell like hot cakes. So it really doesn't matter.

Is there something actually wrong with the depicted antenna bars, or is that just a hilarious meme I missed out on, like "Safari is snappier"?

What should be different about them? I don't get it. Thinner? Thicker? Radio-opaque etal? Do people truly care? It's a line--it's the most minimal level of detail that a necessary part can have. The glass antenna bars on my iPhone 5 are massive in comparison. Which looks better? It's a wash to me. My only opinion, unchanged for years but highly subjective: black looks better than white.

If people do seriously mind those plastic bars, how did they not pitch a tireless fit over the way the iPhone faceplate has stuck out, asymetrically vs. the rear face, on every iPhone (except the 5C) since the iPhone 4? :p

I guess I just don't want an iPhone that appears to be wearing tighty-whiteys -- or actually two pairs of tighty-whiteys, one on its butt and one on its head. (That said, I will be very surprised if they don't paint those bands to match the aluminum in the final version.)

The 5 was the only iPhone I ever bought a case for. The only reason was that the 5 is quite a slippy beast! I have dropped and almost dropped the 5 more times than my 1, 3g and 4 put together!

Hear hear. Those bands look rrrreal cheap 'n' nasty. Most non-Apple like.
I can't believe that some people are saying they look great! That's the ugliest looking iPhone yet, and I wasn't fond of the 3G/S.

Every time I see that recessed area for the Apple logo, it's a different shape......

It looks relatively constant to me, except the first one which comes from the Feld & Volk part which is from an earlier part of the aluminum milling process.

You could argue that the three last recessed areas have slightly different shapes but it's hard to know as they've been taken at different angles. It's possible that they're refining the shape as they test and improve pre-production of the casing.

The original ukrainianiphone.com renders from back in April (which match the leaked cases almost exactly) show the recessed area as being larger and more square, but they may have adjusted its shape to save a few milliseconds in the milling process.

Those antenna breaks needs to provide seriously standard-redefining mobile reception to be justified.
Luckily much, much better reception is on my want-list.

... and an official Apple leather-case will hide everything nicely.

I had the Nokia N82..The flash was awesome!

Yes, coated German glass and Xenon. Funny how everyone just talks about the sensor these days without commenting on the kindergarten-like plastic lens and pretend flash. And yet Nokia and Motorola, makers of the highest quality equipment bit the dust? There's some kind of message in there.

Excellent point. If reception distance could be doubled I'd accept the rubber ducky antenna again! :p

there is no ******** way that is the real casing. Thats gotta be the most unsymmetrical, ugliest piece of crap I'd ever seen, and i KNOW Apple is not releasing that. Thats worse than something samsung would come out with. I mean maybe thats a model created by a blind person while they are getting somewhat detailed instructions of what a real iPhone 6 should look like
lol

Not really digging the white bands on there, I think black or a darker color would look good. Black bands on the space gray phone would be the one for me.

Am I seriously the only who thinks these aren't Apple parts?

"Am I the only one to think Apple wouldn't do a 5C and a 5S in one year?"
"Apple would never make a 4" iPhone."
"Apple would never design a phone with breaks in the phone, and it's very square."

Thank you. I feel like the only sane person here sometimes.

Somehow these antennas are "thick" yet huge slabs of glass aren't? Whatever, I remember how despised the 5 was before it launched. They'll come around.

----------

I do mind them that much actually. The don't fit with apples design philosophy IMO. No single design element should attract so much attention. I find it hard to look away from the breaks, and that's a bad design move. Again, my opinion.

I almost never "rock" a case on my i5. Because it's gorgeous. It's not the i4, but it's pretty. Personally, it's not the bands that bug me so much, it's the "window" inside them that makes them ugly.

The glass breaks on the 5/5s demand just as much attention. They're way more stark.

What's the nicest/best looking prototype you've seen?

I like this one

Nice sig. That's my favorite movie.

One should be able to build a complete iPhone 6 with all those leaked parts up to this point.

LOL! People are starting to call Sonny out and he's getting pissed off:D
