Images of iPhone 4G Actually a Japanese Counterfeit

OK, I want my phone back! Most people would hand it over to the bar staff, but noooo…

This is not even a prototype, or Ive's got the sack. Everyone who has taken an iPhone apart know that the glass needs protection at the edges, hence the chrome surround. OK, they may not need the perfect dress for a prototype. But removable battery? Never. Why sacrifice a more potent battery for a removable unit? Also, what's with the jack? No way would they use one with that cheesy chrome surround.

*Looks at the 1st gen iPhone. Looks at the iPad. Looks at the "4G". Sorry, no way!

I'm telling you, it's just one of these things:

How often do these 'leaked' shots turn out to be real?

The day before an announcement? Maybe.

2-3 months away? No chance.

iPhone 4G (and it is the 4G until Apple tell us what they call it) is real, but you are not going to see it on a blog until T-1 day. Fact.

Well, the first leaked photo of the iPhone 3G came in April 2008, showing its black glossy back. Came true two months later.

Then we saw the first leaked photo of the iPhone 3GS in February 2009, however in matte black. Four months later, the released 3GS has the same markings on the back as the leaked photo, but still in glossy black.

Also, what's with the jack? No way would they use one with that cheesy chrome surround.

The iPhone 3G/3GS already have chrome surrounding the headphone jack.

Have you seen the iPad?

C.

The iPhone has chrome surrounding the glass, but the iPad has aluminum surrounding the glass instead.

Yeah, 3G leaked nice and early, pity there were all of those other bullshine fakes about, just like this one.

3GS was a no-brainer, it's just a 3G, even I could leak that.

Am I the only one wishing that the new one has a soft touch paint surface instead of the cheap plastic, or the terrible slippery aluminum?

I do not see a chrome back in any of those pictures.

The chrome back is clearly shown in one of the 3 "bar room" pictures that were released, along with simple "iPhone" branding (no suffix) and an "XXGB" capacity (since prototypes are made in limited numbers and probably have varying capacities).

another possibility is that it is simply black chrome, which would explain the glassy look.

And there is no removable battery.

The splits in the structure suggests it can be opened. See the pin hole next to the jack?

But it's nicely executed. Next generation Apple industrial design always perfects what already appeared perfect. This is so utterly contrary to that it makes my eyes bleed.

It does look strange...

It looks exactly the way the back of my ipod touch looks under a camera flash when reflecting a dark ceiling. or it could be black chrome. but it's definitely not glass.

The launch is in June, we already know that. June is less than 6 weeks away . . .

Find a post that shows someone flip-flopped.

I'd laugh more at the people who actually thought it was real. This is never an Apple design in a million years

I'm glad it's a fake :), didn't like the look.

I'm more surprised that serious mac news sites published the photos in the first place when they were so hideous to begin with.

I really hope Engadget eats **** after this one. I'm becoming so sick of Gizmodo/Engadget/any other random tech blog.

right here - you were quick to judge like these other fanboys

now u will eat your own words and you should apologize to engadget you fanboy

and why are you sick of tech blogs?

look you haters

you will buy the phone regardless what it looks like

i'll bet on it.

this reminds me of my car forum - i'm part of the e46 community and those kids hate on e90/e92's (latest generation) because they don't like change.

the iphone 4g will be better in every respect. so bend over for apple already - you should be used to it.

Macrumors just update the first page, now they are on Post #3 of this saga, all linking back to the original engadget articles.

The best part of this whole thing is the retractions we are going to start seeing of all the forum readers. Go back and read the first 8 pages of this thread before the iPad image was re-released....it's a laugh for sure.

Hahaahahahaha!!! Classic

Wonderful

Haha,

I thought they were real, then they have been "proven" as fake :D There was ONE guy who still believed the first pictures were real, I love you man, there's indeed a weird perspective on the pictures from that spanish site.

I believe it's a real prototype, some elements will make it to the June 22th iPhone 4G, remember my words, that's my guess.
I think what Jonny Ive is doing here is testing new design elements. No designer on earth especially not Jonny Ive would NOT move on in terms of design. It's now Apples turn to go from Green-Plastic-iMacs to white sharp edged slim iMacs :D convert this phrase to iPhone age and see Jonny Ive get you fascinated by design you claimed to be ugly :D

bye bye my friends, cu June 22th

EDIT: That guy I mentioned above was AlohaiPhone, thank you! ;)
