That pic is fake.
See how the lower corner of that phone look ?
Its liner perspective ain't right AT ALL.
It's obviously a photoshop mokup of one of the previous images to make it look like the guy's holding it.

FAKE,
This is no counterfeit phone.
This might actually be the iPhone HD...
I agree.
The shadows on his arm are all wrong

PHOTOSHOP & INDESIGNED

I don't know what to believe. All I know is that Engadget and other blogs following this story have had some great ad impressions today.

What a day! :)

That story is total ********. There's no proof there, it's assumption. And their source is most likely wrong.

He doesn't. I'm sick of him and Engadget.

That photo was leaked before the iPad was released and turned out to be real. The same photo shows what looks like the iPhone leaked in February and yesterday.

This might be a testing/engineering device that might not indicate what the next iPhone will look, who knows...

regarding the "Japanese Counterfeit" pics, those are definitely fake. Maybe Apple is trying to control the leak?

They're using blurry pictures of an iPhone as evidence that it's theirs. There's no proof there. There's no strong correlation. They're throwing **** at a wall and seeing what sticks.

Counterfeit Looks Better

this counterfeit looks better than current iphone. the screen is bigger and phone is thinner.

Timeline..

Engadget post authentic leaks of iPad in January. Notes an iPhone resting on top of it.

Twitpics of a supposed prototype appear in February, apparently from a Chinese source

Engadget post photos of a supposed prototype yesterday, apparently from an American source, which appear to be exactly the same as the twitpic model albeit with added screws

Applesfera then post a photo from a guy who says it's a Japanese knock-off, with a photo to prove it

Engadget retract their story

Macrumors retract their story

Engadget retract their retraction

Engadget says there is a big update coming but nothing more

It then appears (arguably) that the Applesfera photo is built from one of the engadget photos

Applesfera then post two more photos

It then appears (arguably) that the new Applesfera photos are badly shopped

Engadget argue that their source yesterday is genuine, referring to rectangular-ish second iphone spotted back in that january ipad leak as further evidence.
Also say they have a 'source' confirming yesterday's 'leak' as the genuine article.

---

If we accept that the Applesfera photos are shopped (that seems obvious), and suspend judgement on motivation as to why they were... Engadget still don't have a convincing argument that yesterday's leak is the real deal, regardless of this new post.

But I believe that it is.

Also, I see their point regarding that 'second iphone' in the ipad leak. It does look more rectangular, solid and metal than the current models.

Engadget and Gizmodo have had awful sources in the past. I don't believe them when they claim they have a source.

This just in; Vatican just welcomed its newest member. The 3 week old Yorkshire Terrier was handpicked by top cardinals and is said to be healthy and very energetic. This follows recent Vatican plans to modernize the church and increase its appeal to animal lovers and vegetarians groups.

Also if this is simply a Japanese counterfeit why can't I buy one??? Engadget's Japan staff claim to have never seen this counterfeit.

Why would someone counterfeit a device and not offer it for sale?

Thank you - I've been looking for the whole day, can't find a peep about it.
