In case no one sees the similarities between the two photos...

From http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/18/iphone-4g-proof/

They think it leaked from Apple lab. I've no ideal about this :(

BTW, I don't know why apple doesn't allow customer to replace new battery on any handheld devices.

Because it eats up space and most people never change the battery.

That's pretty weak.

You all do realize the supposed front-facing camera is right where the light sensors are now, right?

It's real

We know the original iPad image to be 100% legit.
And right next to the iPad is the Aluminum-sided iPhone.
Complete with circular volume buttons...

Ahh I see it now. How come the silent button (on the top pic) is yellow? Is that because the switch is pushed down?...lol i'm starting to think this is legit

Yeah the color is probably the indicator color/picture

It's totally legit.

I posted the link already but Engadget got hold of some metal side-casing production photos.. with no proposed destination other than the new iphone

This is totally fake! Apple would never make such a hideous device!

--What's that? It's real?!

Oh man, this is beautiful! I'm buying it on day one! Way to go Apple, you did it again!

These new engadget shots have me pretty convinced but I still cannot believe how many seams are on that thing. Very un-apple like!

I haven't seen that one bit. The post I quoted below proves my point. Stop trying to be smug.

Exactly why I think it's a knock-off.

Looking at the teardown on Engadget the light and proximity sensors have been moved to the other side of the earpiece grill. Also, that circle can't be those sensors as there's only one, and its parallel with the earpiece rather than being slightly above and slightly below as is now.

There are three sensors - ambient light and one that turns off the screen when you use the phone. Two on top of each other, bottom in line with the earpiece, one farther towards the left of the face that is parallel with the earpiece.

Still matches up to me.

If it is a knock-off, please post a link so I can buy one.

Do you know the resources that it would take to engineer a device like this? Why would someone go through all that trouble and not offer it for sale?

Regarding the seems, this is most likely a testing device and the final design might be very different.

The sensors have been moved above the earpiece, just like the original iPhone.

You are aware that knock-offs are duplicates of existing products.
Why would a counterfeiter create a brand new design?

C.

They do all the time. If it looks close enough to it they'll use stock pieces they have around to make a similar product.

There is only one thing that would make me believe it at this point - turn the ****ing thing on and then tear it apart to show me an Apple-branded chip.

Eveeryone really needs to stop complaining. We ALL know that when the next iPhone does come out, even if it does resemble this closely, it will be hot and a lot of people will say how sexy it is.

People said the iPad had an "ugly bezel" until they used it and realized it's perfectly made for the way you hold the device.

Be patient everyone. It's just a phone. :)

Lol at you fanboys who were hating on the design believing it was fake

now engadget owns u!

Oh now u love the design?!

Love u guys
