It probably hasn't occurred to anyone because it makes absolutely no sense for a company, as opposed to a garage bound kid, to start from anything but a BRAND NEW shell. And if you want an iPhone, but can't afford $149/month, then get the standard $75/month that most get. Or $70/month w/o texting. Or buy a first generation for around $200, and it's $60/month, with no contract. Or jailbreak it and go prepaid. The data plan adds $1/day to a phone bill. If you don't need/want web access when you're not around wifi, then get an iPod. If you need/want web access, get an iPhone.

Why? Just like with Windows vista, way back in 2002/2003 it had the XP luna UI, and slowly it changed. Its good to start off with the current shell, play around with it and then base the new shell off of the modified current shell.

You really don't understand how things work/

Yes. I'm also doubting that their will be a plastic back because as thin as the touch is now, the plastic would need to be made strong enough so it can protect the guts. But because the iPhone recieved no different outer shell, I think the touch might be the same.

like the iphone. Not everything needs to be razor sharp thin.

but please, stop screaming at everyone. it only makes you look like an idiot.

How come everyone dislikes the metal back? I mean, i noe tat it gets scratch really easily but if u buy a cover for it then it would be just fine. I hope they keep the metal back but tats just me =D

You on the iPhone/touch or is that how you really type?

simple

  1. It scratches. Doesn't matter if you have a case or not
  2. finger print prone
  3. You see little girls using it as a mirror.
  4. the design is out dated
  5. The medal back is not good for wi-fi.

Looks scratchy.

I'm sure that case manufacturers are happy that Apple has kept the scratchtastic back. If this turns out to be real, that is.
You sir speak the words of the wisest of all men.

I cannot fathom why Apple keeps using that darn "scratches-just-by-looking-at-it" metal. I was hoping they would use the same material as the iPhone. Especially since they switched to something else when they issued the new Nano.

Oh well...

The new one has god to be AT LEAST as fast as the iPhone 4. My touch seems te be so slow it's unbearable. I've figured to restore it and it's now considerably faster. It must have much more RAM because multitasking doesn't work at all.

My iTouch 4 works just as well as my iPhone 4...

Thats not possible...because Apple hasn't released an iTouch. Although, with the perverted Auto-correct the iPhones have, maybe there will be an iTouch.

Actually there have been 4 different iterations of iTouch.

1,2,3, and 4 and the 5th one is coming soon.

he's referring to the fact that it's not an itouch..it's a TOUCH. no i.

iTouch is the contracted form for iPod Touch.

It is similar to the english language where there are don't,(do not) couldn't (could not).

Generally contractions are accepted everywhere except in major papers, but if I recall correctly no one is writing a major term paper here so contractions do not matter, there for iTouch is acceptable.

FYI, the term "Mac" started out as a nickname for Macintosh computers.
